Few players in Australian basketball are filling the box score quite like Courtney Woods.
The Townsville Flames WNBL champion enters the final three rounds of the NBL1 North season averaging 27.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game, putting together one of the most remarkable all-round campaigns in the country.
Yet despite Woods' brilliance, Townsville sits fifth on the ladder behind ladder leaders Cairns Dolphins and Logan Thunder, leaving both the MVP race and championship chase wide open.
Courtney Woods doing everything for Townsville
WNBL26 Grand Final MVP Woods has been the league's most productive player, adding 2.3 steals while shooting 52% from the field and 87% from the free-throw line.
Townsville (8-4) remains firmly in the playoff race but faces a challenging finish with Mackay, Logan and Rockhampton still to come.
If the Flames can climb into the top four, Woods' MVP credentials will become almost impossible to ignore.
Mia Loyd anchoring ladder-leading Cairns
Competition leaders Cairns continue to set the standard behind American import Mia Loyd.
Loyd is averaging 21.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists, giving Cairns Basketball one of the competition's most versatile stars while leading the Dolphins to an 11-1 record.
Cairns' remaining schedule includes Southern Districts, North Gold Coast, Logan and Rockhampton, with the Round 13 clash against Logan likely to decide the minor premiership.
Leah Scott driving Logan's championship pursuit
Second-placed Logan Thunder has won 10 of its first 11 games thanks largely to the brilliance of Leah Scott.
Scott is averaging 21.6 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 51% from the field as Logan prepares for a season-defining stretch that includes Northside, Cairns, Townsville and Ipswich.
The Round 13 showdown with Cairns shapes as one of the biggest games of the NBL1 North season.
Erin Bollmann keeping Sunshine Coast in the hunt
Sunshine Coast Phoenix remains firmly in the finals race, with Erin Bollmann producing another outstanding all-round season.
Bollmann averages 22.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists and a league-leading 3.8 steals, making an impact at both ends of the floor as the Phoenix chase a top-six finish.
Georgia Woolley shining for North Gold Coast
Despite North Gold Coast sitting outside the playoff positions, Georgia Woolley has delivered an outstanding campaign.
The Australian Opals guard is averaging 24.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists, continuing to rank among the competition's elite scorers.
Other stars making their mark
Alyssa Brown continues to lead Brisbane Capitals with 21.4 points per game.
Shanique Lucas has provided Rockhampton Basketball with 21.1 points per game while averaging two made three-pointers.
Former WNBL guard Brooke Basham has made an immediate impact for Cairns Basketball, averaging 20.3 points while shooting 51% from the field.
North Gold Coast's Katie Deeble remains one of the competition's premier perimeter shooters, averaging 19.7 points while making 2.5 three-pointers per game.
Rockhampton Basketball centre Emily Kiser leads the league in rebounding, pulling down 12.7 boards per contest to go with 19.6 points per game.
Cairns and Logan control the championship race
The Dolphins remain narrowly ahead of Logan atop the ladder, although the Thunder have played one fewer game.
The remaining schedule heavily favours a dramatic finish.
Cairns hosts Southern Districts before travelling to North Gold Coast ahead of its blockbuster clash with Logan.
Logan faces South West Metro and Northside before that meeting, then backs up against Townsville and Ipswich.
Behind them, Southern Districts, Mackay, Townsville and Northside are separated by only two wins, meaning home-court advantage remains up for grabs.
Biggest games remaining
- Round 12: Southern Districts Spartans vs Cairns Dolphins
- Round 12: Logan Thunder vs Northside Wizards
- Round 12: Mackay Meteorettes vs Townsville Flames
- Round 13: Cairns Dolphins vs Logan Thunder
- Round 13: Townsville Flames vs Logan Thunder
- Round 14: Sunshine Coast Phoenix vs Northside Wizards
Whether it's Courtney Woods chasing MVP honours, Mia Loyd steering Cairns towards the minor premiership or Leah Scott leading Logan's title challenge, the final three rounds promise to shape both the championship race and the league's individual honours.
