Dyson Daniels starred for the undermanned Atlanta Hawks against the LA Lakers

A Dyson Daniels masterclass over the Lakers, two green and gold products going head-to-head for the first time and a possible injury to Josh Giddey headlined the day's action of Aussies in the NBA.

Daniels needed to step up against the red-hot Lakers with the Atlanta Hawks undermanned and he did exactly that, showing defence wasn't the only reason the Hawks signed him to a long-term extension.

Several Aussies, including Dante Exum and Johnny Furphy remain out with injuries, while Giddey's All-Star form may have come to a sudden stop against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The performance even more impressive considering the Hawks were without Trae Young, Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Kristaps Porzingis.

LA were also on a five-game winning streak heading into the contest.

The Boomers guard also had one steal for Atlanta, marking the 62nd straight game he has recorded a steal in an NBA game, a franchise record for the Hawks.

Game in progress. Bulls star Josh Giddey and Cavaliers rookie Tyrese Proctor are facing-off for the first time in the NBA. Both Aussies have had an impressive start to their seasons.

Midway through the third quarter, with the Bulls leading 83-78, Giddey left the court with an apparent right ankle injury but returned shortly after.

Proctor was coming off a career-high 17 points in 19 minutes against the Wizards the night before, where he also became the fastest Aussie to hit five three-pointers in an NBA game.

Giddey had 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists but it wasn't enough as Cleveland came back from as much as 19 points down to earn a 128-122 victory. Proctor had six points, two rebounds and one assist in 13 minutes.

NBA Box Score: Miami Heat vs Portland Trail Blazers

Boomers big man Duop Reath's hot shooting from beyond the arc shows no signs of slowing down after he went 2-from-3 from long range despite Portland's 136-131 loss to the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center.

Reath, who recently caught fire to help Portland send defending champions OKC to their first loss of the season, had six points and three rebounds in 12 minutes.
