What Happened

The Chicago Sky came out strong in the opening quarter, taking a 21-17 lead behind solid interior play from Kamilla Cardoso. Phoenix responded in the second period, but Chicago maintained their advantage, heading into halftime with a 44-38 lead.
The Mercury found their rhythm in the third quarter, with Kitija Laksa providing a spark off the bench. Her three-point shooting helped Phoenix outscore Chicago 29-27 in the period, narrowing the deficit to 71-67 heading into the final frame.
Phoenix took control in the fourth quarter, outscoring Chicago 27-18. Sabally's aggressive drives and Alyssa Thomas' playmaking proved decisive down the stretch. With four minutes remaining, Laksa hit a clutch three-pointer that put the Mercury ahead for good, capping off her efficient 18-point performance on 6-from-9 shooting.
Thomas orchestrated the Mercury offense masterfully, dishing out 15 assists while adding 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Her court vision and defensive presence were instrumental in Phoenix's comeback victory. The Mercury's bench outscored Chicago's reserves 35-10, with Laksa's 18 points leading the way.
The Mercury's three-point shooting made the difference, as they connected on 16-from-40 attempts (40%) compared to Chicago's 6-from-21 (28.6%). Phoenix also forced 16 Chicago turnovers while committing just nine of their own, leading to additional scoring opportunities that proved crucial in the close contest.
