Former Boomers star and Olympian Brock Motum will have a new club for the 2025-26 season following his decision to leave Japan B League cellar dwellars Shiga Lakers after two seasons.
Motum's decision comes after he won the B League's scoring title, averaging 21.4 points per game for the Lakes, shooting 40.9% from the three-point line and scoring 1135 points total for the season, the most in the competition despite missing seven of the sixty regular season games.
The 34-year-old will not be returning to the NBL despite being spoken about during the league's free agency period and being a coveted signing ever since he last played for the Adelaide 36ers a decade ago.
It is believed he has agreed to sign with another club in Japan.
After being named the B League's scoring champion, Motum said his goal had always been to improve each season.
"It's a great feeling to lead a league in scoring, it validates that what I am doing is working," he said.
"It takes a lot of energy and focus to consistently produce every single game so it's nice now to reflect back on the season I had and appreciate it before I start working out again in the offseason on how to be even better next year."
With the Japanese season have concluded over the weekend, Motum will return home to Brisbane to spend time with family and workout before his next professional season.
His accolades and decision to depart the Lakes also come after basketball.com.au had an exclusive interview with Motum about his journey so far.
