'Dream comes true': Bijkerk commits to Pepperdine

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles guard Freya Bijkerk will play for the Pepperdine Waves in NCAA Women's Division 1 in 2025-26.

Bijkerk committed to the prestigious Southern California university in April 2025.

"I'm beyond excited to announce my commitment to Pepperdine University," she said.

"Such a dream come true. Thank you to coach Katie Faulkner and the Waves WBB coaching staff for this opportunity!

"I am so thankful for my coaches, Tim Hill and Steve Shorthand, for playing a massive role in my development, as well as my Eagles Fam, for supporting me from the start."

The New South Wales Under-20 Australian champion has been delivering big time for the 7-0 Sea Eagles in the NSW Waratah Women's Youth League this season.

She is averaging 18 points in the five games she's played this season.

Bijkerk has had a jam-packed six months, winning the MVP at the She Got Game Classic in Washington DC during a tour of the US, invited to the Australian Under-19 Gems World Cup camp last month and then committing to Pepperdine two weeks ago.
