Australian Boomers Olympian Matisse Thybulle is in the middle of one of the best stretches of his career as the Portland Trail Blazers smashed the Washington Wizards to book their spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
Fighting off an injury-riddled past few seasons, Thybulle has been impactful for the Trail Blazers since his return with Portland winning seven of their past 10 games, including a 123-88 victory over the Wizards at the Moda Center today.
The Trail Blazers currently sit ninth in the Western Conference but aren't out of reach of the Los Angeles Clippers in eighth spot - sitting just 1.5 games behind with six games remaining in their season.
Moving into the 7/8 bracket would give Portland two shots at making the playoffs rather than a do-or-die game to start the tournament.
Thybulle has featured in 23 games this season and while his averages might not be eye-catching, his 5.3 points per game is still the fifth best average of his career. However, he is doing it while shooting 39.1% from the three-point line, the second-highest of his career, only behind last season's 43.8% but he only played in 15 games.
The man, who helped the Boomers earn a history-making bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by guarding superstars like Luka Doncic, is doing it all while still having a major impact for Tiago Splitter's team on the defensive end.
NBA BOX SCORE: Portland Trail Blazers vs Washington Wizards
Matisse Thybulle reached double figures in scoring for the third time in four games, scoring 10 points in 19 minutes off the bench for the Portland Trail Blazers.
The former University of Washington star went 4-from-6 from the field and 2-from-3 from beyond the arc. He also had five rebounds, two assists and one block.
NBA BOX SCORE: Charlotte Hornets vs Boston Celtics
Josh Green went scoreless as the Boston Celtics demolished the Charlotte Hornets 114-99 at the Spectrum Center.
Green went 0-from-1 in 18 minutes and had just one assist and one steal.
