The Tasmania JackJumpers have kept their undefeated streak alive when AFL supercoach and three-peat hero Chris Fagan is in attendance after taking down the Brisbane Bullets 109-99 in an overtime thriller at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
One of the recruits of the offseason in Taran Armstrong had his best performance in JackJumpers colours with 29 points, including 4-from-7 from the three-point line, to win the battle of the point guards against Brisbane's Arnas Velicka and lead Tasmania to a 3-1 record to tip-off their season.
JackJumpers coach Scott Roth gave a special shoutout to Fagan, a Tasmanian product, following the victory and the Brisbane Lions' latest premiership flag.
"A big shout out to Fages in the building and he's obviously a Tasmanian, a supporter of us and his record is undefeated every time he seems to show up we end up winning," Roth said in the post-game press conference.
"So, congratulations to him in his three-peat and in retirement and you know to have the GOAT in the locker room after the game is a massive thing for our group and he's been a great friend of mine the last few years, so kudos to him and the Brisbane Lions."
After trailing by as much as 16 points in the first-half, Roth said it was nothing new for his group to stay resilient and come out with a big result on the road.
"I've been doing this for quite a long time here with these guys and we just are not going to quit on anything," Roth said.
"If we get punched around, which we will, I'm sure, during the course of the season, we're just going to keep attacking and doing what we do and these guys stayed patient.
"We had a great third quarter and just sat down and defended very, very well and I thought we had a really actually a good fourth quarter, we missed four or five really great looks that could have just ended the game I think at that point. But give them credit they just kept coming back at us and then it's just a five minute game and the guys have a lot of resilience."
Following a game-winner and a Player of the Game performance in his last two games as a JackJumper, Armstrong said he's loved representing his home state after making the switch from the EuroLeague in free agency.
"It's so unique (playing for Tasmania)," Armstrong said.
"It takes me back to national championships growing up, when we were always overlooked, I remember just walking into like opening ceremonies and walking past Vic Metro and New South Wales Metro and the arrogance I could feel from some of these other states was just something I felt early.
"From that moment I always had such a massive pride in where I come from and I feel the support a great deal and saw so many fans and Jackie jerseys (at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre)."
It was a big round three for Roth's injury-riddled team after a tight win over Melbourne United and then a road victory over Brisbane.

Even Bullets coach Will Weaver could appreciate Armstrong's efforts.
"You tip your hat to (Tasmania) for making plays when it mattered and Taran Armstrong had a really strong game," he said.
Brisbane big man Tyrell Harrison said the contest was all part of his team "building to a bigger goal".
"This is a great learning experience for us," he said.
"We brought in a lot of guys that are buying into the same goal, a lot of changes are happening at this club, good changes but "we're) just trying to stack days to try and get to where we want to get to."
The Bullets have lost their past two after winning their first two games and take on the Taipans in Cairns on Thursday.
