Sydney Kings rookie guard Will Johnston returns the most points per $100k of any POD

Sydney Kings NBL26 Grand Final MVP Kendric Davis ($436,000) is, by the truest definition, a POD (Point of Difference) SuperCoach NBL Classic superstar, but in reality, he’s a strategy.

Davis, 27, is owned by just 6.5 per cent of SuperCoaches, but he’s been a schedule-led decision. The Kings are about to head into a doubleheader bonanza – Rounds 5, 6, 7 and 9. He won’t be a POD for long, but his price will almost certainly rise.

For new players, PODs are low-ownership, high-upside players that deliver the goods, especially in Head-to-Head leagues where SuperCoach teams share the same players and therefore rely on “unique” selections to deliver winning points.

basketball.com.au has built the definitive table of PODs ahead of tonight’s 7.30 lockout when Adelaide hosts Melbourne in the Ignite Cup at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.

The two PODs absolutely worth consideration are Taran Armstrong ($304,700) (3.2%) and Tyrell Harrison ($336,100) (4.6%), with both Brisbane and Tasmania having multiple double headers before Round 9.

Below is a full breakdown of every POD by price and bracket. Use the “Add” button in the table below to link straight to the Player’s SuperCoach NBL Profile.

THE PREMIUM POD (the big one)

  • Kendric Davis ($436,000), now $439,700. 6.5% owned. Second-best average in the game (44.7) and owned by fewer than one in 15 teams. Sydney plays once in Round 4, then doubles in Rounds 5, 6, 7, and 9. If you're chasing rank, this is the move.

THE DOUBLE-HEADER PODs

THE VALUE PODs (points per $100k)

  • Will Johnston ($69,000), now $96,900. 6.8% owned. 17.7 average on 15.1 minutes, 18.2 points per $100k, the best value of any POD. Sydney double in Rounds 5, 6, 7 and 9.
  • Dakota Mathias ($145,200), now $173,400. 1.9%. 24.5 average on 36.5 minutes, the most minutes of any POD, and 14.1 points per $100k. Tasmania double in Rounds 5, 7 and 9.
  • Elijah Pepper ($202,700), now $258,400. 5.3%. 30.0 average on 35 minutes. Perth's doubles come late (Rounds 7, 8, 9), so he's a hold-and-wait POD.
