Harrison headlines Rd 2 SuperCoach NBL as Brisbane and Cairns double up. Strategy calls loom large

It's no surprise that New Zealand big man Tyrell Harrison is already in 25% of all SuperCoach NBL Beat the Coach teams ahead of Round 2 of NBL26.

Single position centre Harrison ($306,400) racked up 52 points against the New Zealand Breakers in Round 1 and his Brisbane Bullets play twice in Round 2, first against the already struggling Cairns Taipans on Friday night and then the Sydney Kings on Sunday afternoon.

The decision SuperCoaches will need to make is between at least two of either Harrison, Casey Prather ($351,400), Jaylen Adams ($374,200) and Javon Freeman-Liberty ($277,000) given they scored 164 points between them against the Breakers.

All four blow the $1.4M salary cap out of the water, leaving just $91K with two roster spots vacant.

Brisbane Bullets in Round 1

  • Jaylen Adams (BRI, GRD) – 35 pts | $374,200
  • Casey Prather (BRI, GRD/FWD) – 36 pts | $351,400
  • Tyrell Harrison (BRI, CTR) – 52 pts | $306,400
  • Javon Freeman-Liberty (BRI, GRD) – 41 pts | $277,000
  • Alex Ducas (BRI, GRD/FWD) – 20 pts | $232,000
  • Sam McDaniel (BRI, GRD/FWD) – 19 pts | $166,400

The interest pick in the quartet is Jaylen Adams, who faces the Sydney Kings for the first time since leaving the club and signing with Brisbane. But he's going up against Matthew Dellavedova and Kendric Davis. Beware the returning player though with something to prove against his former club.

Meanwhile, the Taipans are also playing twice and someone has to score points for them. Sam Waardenburg is out and Marcus Lee ($203,600) is playing minutes at the 5. He scored 30 points in Round 1 and is playing twice in Round 2. Reyne Smith ($69,000) is excellent value given the Taipans play twice. He scored 26 points in Round 1. He's leading the competition in cost per point at $2,653.8.

Round 1 Standouts → Round 2 ROI Watch

  • Bryce Hamilton (TAS, GRD) – 77 pts (2 games), $277k → 🔥 huge start, just $7.1k per point. Bargain if production holds.
  • Jesse Edwards (MEL, CTR) – 73 pts (2 games), $277k → elite PPM (1.7), perfect fit with United’s pace.
  • Shea Ili (MEL, GRD) – 55 pts (2 games), $265.3k → efficient scorer, mid-tier price keeps him in play.
  • Parker Jackson-Cartwright (NZL, GRD) – 54 pts (2 games), $391.9k → pricey but steady; value hinges on double-doubles.
  • David Johnson (TAS, GRD) – 54 pts (2 games), $277k → sneaky cheap guard option, low ownership (1.6%).
  • Tyrell Harrison (BRI, CTR) – 52 pts (1 game), $306.4k → monster efficiency (1.6 PPM), clear round-winner if healthy.
  • Milton Doyle (MEL, GRD) – 50 pts (2 games), $276.5k → steady ROI, heavily owned (20%+) and still good value.
  • Will Magnay (TAS, CTR/FWD) – 46 pts (2 games), $331.6k → risk at high ownership (36%), low PPM (0.7).

Strategy

  • Double Game Watch: BRI and CNS → key for Round 2 selections.
  • Early Bargains: Edwards, Hamilton, Harrison shaping as must-haves.
  • Caution Flags: High-ownership traps such as Will Magnay & Parker Jackson-Cartwright in Round 1 need sustained output to justify cost. PJC is carrying an injury and Magnay was value given the JackJumpers double header.
Sydney Comets for Round 2 of SuperCoach NBL Beat the Coach

I've opted to omit Adams given the toughness of the Kings backcourt. It was a hard call given he's coming back to Sydney to face his former club. Smith's value is simply too good to pass up given his ability to hit the three ball. Both the Bullets and the Taipans play twice so I've stacked my team with five players from both clubs and given Krslovic's form and Melbourne facing South East Melbourne he's the value in at that match-up at $143,400.
