NBA champion Alex Ducas has joined the Brisbane Bullets after the club announced they had signed the Aussie forward on a one-year deal.

ESPN's Olgun Uluc last month reported the Bullets were set to snare Ducas but the deal had not yet been made official until today.

The West Australian recently completed a title-winning season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he featured as a two-way player. In doing so, Ducas became the ninth Australian-born player to claim an NBA Championship.

“After months of targeted recruitment and behind-the-scenes strategy, the Bullets' patient approach is paying off," Bullets head coach, Stu Lash, said in a release from the club.

“Alex has been on our radar for a long time. We waited for the right moment, and this is it. His talent and work ethic are a great fit for the club.

"Signing Alex is a big moment for our us. Adding another player with championship experience will only strengthen our roster as we head into NBL26,” Lash said.

Ducas’ basketball journey began at Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence, followed by a standout four-year career at Saint Mary’s College of California, where he set the school record for most games played (150), scored over 1,200 career points, and knocked down more than 230 three-pointers.

He also helped the Boomers win gold at the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup.

The 6'7" forward said he was "pumped" to be putting on a Bullets jersey.

"Winning a title with OKC was unbelievable, but I’m ready to bring that energy and mindset to Brisbane. I love Australia and I’m ready to get to work. Let’s do something special."

He remained with the Thunder for Summer League but didn't much playing time.

Upon signing, Ducas has joined a Bullets roster that currently includes Jaylen Adams, Mitch Norton, Casey Prather, Tyrell Harrison, Sam McDaniel, Jacob Holt, and Taine Murray.
