South East Melbourne Phoenix Sixth Man of the Year candidate Angus Glover has put seven exclamation marks on teammate Nathan Sobey’s two-year contract extension.
Glover scorched the Tasmania JackJumpers for 21 points on 7-of-10 three-pointers as Phoenix overpowered the visitors 120-104 in Round 21 of NBL26 on Saturday, February 12, 2026.
Sobey, 35, re-signed with Phoenix earlier in the day. He is third in the MVP race, averaging a career-high 21.9 points to go with 3.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
“Obviously great for me and my family,” Sobey said.
“Stoked to stay around and be in my home state first and foremost. But also just what we’re building – the group we’ve got, coach and staff doing a great job – it’s just fun to be a part of. I’m really looking forward to what we can accomplish over the next couple of years.
“Playing under Josh (King) for nearly two years now, understanding the system, understanding my role and what’s asked of me and each individual within our group, and knowing the structure of that.
“But also just super happy to be around a great bunch of people. We’ve got a great locker room, which translates into good basketball as well.”
King credited Glover and Ian Clark off the bench for sparking the Phoenix against the undermanned JackJumpers, who will finish sixth.
“Angus Glover got us going from three and kind of broke the game open,” King said.
“Ian was hitting shots.
"I thought Akech Aliir came off and made the most of his opportunity – he hasn’t played in a while and was really good on both ends. Malik was really good, too. Those four guys gave us a huge boost. We’re going to need that towards the back end of the season.”
