Taran Armstrong signs with EuroLeague powerhouse KK Partizan
Australian guard Taran Armstrong signs with KK Partizan, leaving Golden State for EuroLeague.
- Armstrong’s deal with Partizan comes after Frank Ntilikina’s departure to Olympiacos
- Golden State still holds his NBA rights, but the move signals Armstrong’s desire for a bigger role
- The 22-year-old averaged 17.1 points in his last NBL season with Cairns before his NBA stint
Australian guard and former Golden State Warrior Taran Armstrong has signed with EuroLeague powerhouse KK Partizan, with the club expected to formally announce the deal in the coming days, sources tell basketball.com.au.
The 22-year-old joins the Serbian giants as a replacement for former NBA player Frank Ntilikina, whose brief stint in Belgrade has come to an end following his move to rival team Olympiacos.
Rumours of Armstrong’s arrival began circulating after a report from Sport Klub linked him to Partizan late last week, with club president Ostoja Mijailović confirming that Partizan was actively pursuing a new guard, as well as a centre.
Armstrong, who joined Golden State on a two-way contract in early 2025 at the end of the NBL season, was made a restricted free agent this offseason after the Warriors extended him a qualifying offer. While Golden State retains his NBA rights, Armstrong’s move to Europe suggests a desire to take on a more substantial role, rather than spend another season splitting time between the Warriors and their G League affiliate, Santa Cruz.
Australian players have a history with Partizan, with both Jock Landale and Dante Exum having played there.
The move comes on the heels of Partizan’s preseason tour of Australia, where they took part in the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament across Melbourne and Sydney.
The trip marked a rare chance for Australian fans to see EuroLeague talent on home soil — including Armstrong’s future teammates such as former NBA lottery pick Jabari Parker and FIBA World Cup standout Carlik Jones.
Armstrong is not the only exciting young talent to join Partizan over recent weeks either, with Miikka Murrinen, an athletic 18-year-old forward out of Finland who made waves for his highlight reel dunks across Eurobasket last month, also announcing his decision to join Partizan last week.
Given his age, production, and profile, the former Cairns Taipans star would have been one of the most sought-after Australian NBL free agents on the market, should he have re-entertained the Australian market.
The Tasmanian-born guard previously played two NBL seasons with the Taipans, emerging as one of the league’s most dynamic young creators. In his second season (2024–25), Armstrong averaged 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.1% from the field and running the offense with poise well beyond his years. That campaign drew NBA interest, ultimately leading to his deal with Golden State.
