Arkansas Razorbacks d Louisiana Tech 93-81
Freshman Bonnie Deas has starred for the Arkansas Razorbacks with 25 points and five rebounds in one of the best college debuts by an Australian in NCAA history.
Deas, who earned All-Star Five honours at the FIBA Under-19 Women's World Cup earlier this year, was dominant for the Razorbacks as the Victorian guard went 4-from-9 from the three-point line to lead her team to a 12-point victory to start their season.
The 19-year-old was the leading scorer from the game and showed why she was one of the top international prospects heading into this season.
Deas, who spoke exclusively with Basketball.com.au's Bec Cole on 'It's a Cole World' earlier this year after the silver medal-winning World Cup campaign, also had three assists and three steals in the contest.
Colorado State Rams def Weber State 75-58
Australian centre Antoniette Emma-Nnopu had a dominant season debut for Weber State, recording a double-double despite her team's 17-point loss to Colorado State.
Emma-Nnopu had 22 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes.
The Geelong product started her second season with Weber State after transferring from UNC Greensboro and already looks like improving on last season's averages of nine points and 9.2 rebounds.
