Another Delly sparks Boomers to 33-point drubbing

They might have scored 126 points and given up 93 in their 33-point win over Jordan in their FIBA Asia Qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar, but it was the Australian Boomers' disruption on defence which pleased coach Jacob Chance the most.

Australia kept Jordanian guard Jalen Harris to just 36.5% shooting from the field and fellow star Freddy Ibrahim to 11 points, going just 2-from-8 from the field, for the Boomers to run away with another dominant victory from this window at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

"We watched Jordan the other night and just saw how well they can run their offence if you give them a chance, particularly through Freddy (Ibrahim) and Jalen Harris, so to come out and be as disruptive as we were early was a pleasing sign and we were able to keep them out of their offensive flow," Chance said in the post-game press conference.

"II think if we tidied up our fouls there in the first half and didn't send them to the foul line so much we were in a pretty commanding position. I was happy with how we started and then to close the game out and see all 12 of our guys get out there and contribute was really pleasing."

Seven Boomers players connected on three-pointers as they shot 46.5% from beyond the arc with the dominance starting in the first quarter with a 29-16 period to start the game.

"They're a very talented basketball team and we had to come out and throw the first punch, which we did," Angus Glover said in the post-game press conference.

"But (it was) physical game and a lot of fouls but I think we did a good job of playing through that and continually putting the ball in the hole but moving on to the next thing which we talked about a lot, 40 minutes of that and we were good."

With a squad featuring five debutants for this window, Chance said every player knew the importance of representing the Boomers when they wore the green and gold.

"We will always bring the best available talent based on where guys are at with their domestic responsibilities but we know the importance of these games and the larger picture of how it could impact Qatar next year," he said.

"We want to qualify first and foremost and then make sure we finish as high as we can. All of our guys when they come on these tips, whether they're debutants or senior players... we have a responsibiliy to the green and gold to come in here and put on our best performance and get as many wins as we can."

Australia produced a commanding all-court display to defeat Jordan 126–93 in Second Round Group E action at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, with 12 players hitting the scoresheet and six reaching double figures. The Boomers shot 51.9% from the field and 45.2% from three-point range in a performance defined by depth, ball movement and relentless offensive rhythm.

Depth powers dominant offensive display

Australia's balance was the defining feature of the night, with Anthony Dell'Orso leading the way off the bench for 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Angus Glover added 16 points on a perfect 6-of-6 line from the free-throw stripe, while Josh Bannan chipped in 15 points and five rebounds.

Elijah Pepper contributed 14 points and six rebounds from the starting group, and Tom Wilson provided 13 points, five assists and three rebounds in just over 17 minutes. The Boomers finished with 33 assists on 41 made field goals, a clear reflection of the connectivity that ran through every unit.

Travers dictates tempo with playmaking

Luke Travers stuffed the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds, 10 assists and a steal in 20 minutes, orchestrating the offence with poise. His +24 plus/minus was the highest on the floor, underlining the impact he made whenever Australia had the ball.

Dash Daniels added nine points, four rebounds and an assist, while Sam Froling contributed six points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals from the centre position. Nick Kay was flawless from the floor, going a perfect 3-of-3 for eight points.

Jordan's guards keep them competitive

Jordan received a strong offensive effort from Amin Abu Hawwas, who led all scorers with 21 points on 5-of-7 shooting, adding nine successful free throws. Jalen Harris matched Abdullah Olajuwon with 19 points apiece, though the pair combined to shoot just 11-of-31 from the field.

Freddy Ibrahim added 11 points, three assists and a perfect 7-of-7 mark from the line, and Saif Al-Deen Saleh posted 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Despite Jordan converting 89.2% of their free throws, they were unable to keep pace with Australia's efficiency, shooting just 38.2% overall and 26.7% from long range.

Boards and ball control tilt the ledger

Australia dominated the glass with 49 rebounds to Jordan's 33, including 17 offensive boards that translated into repeat scoring opportunities. Jacob Holt led the rebounding effort with nine boards off the bench, while Bannan and Travers combined for another 11.

The Boomers also converted at the line at an 85.7% clip (30-of-35), turning Jordan's foul trouble into steady damage. Ten steals and 33 assists further highlighted a night where Australia controlled almost every statistical column that mattered.
