Expect “Boomer Bryce” Cotton to be playing for Australia at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The six-time MVP now has three more than influential endorsements: Dean Vickerman; Josh Giddey; and the latest Dyson Daniels.
Vickerman is the associate head coach while Giddey and Daniels are the "got next" of this generation of Australian Boomers.
“Mate, it’s huge for us,” Atlanta Hawks point guard Daniels said on the latest episode of Tommy Talks.
“Bryce is super talented, and it’s his first time playing for the Boomers, so it’s gonna be really good to have him on the team.
I think he’s exactly what we need at the moment – a guy that can really score the ball.”
Chicago Bulls star and Boomers starting point guard Giddey told nine.com.au last month that Cotton would be an invaluable piece to Australia’s pursuit of its first gold medal (or silver).
“Bryce being there would be right at the top of the list for guys I'd want in the green and gold. He's the kind of player that can really give us a different look,” Giddey told Wide World of Sports.
“If you look across the board at the guys we've got, we don't really have someone like Bryce who can be that offensive punch. He'd be awesome for us to have.
“If there's a chance he can play for the Boomers at the World Cup or the Olympics or whatever it is, we'd welcome him with open arms. He'd be unbelievable to have.”
Vickerman was blunt when asked if Cotton was now a candidate for the 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup and the 2028 Olympics.
“I wouldn’t be standing here if I didn’t think that,” the former Melbourne United head coach said.
“Obviously, only one naturalised player can be on the roster, and Matisse Thybulle and potentially others will be contesting for the spot.
“But for the body of work Bryce has done – and competing against him – one of the fun parts of the Boomers is that you see people from afar, but then you get to work with them day to day and see their greatness as well.
“I look forward to being with him in Perth.”

Cotton plays his first games for the Boomers against Guam on July 3, 2026, and against the Philippines on July 6, both in Perth, as part of the 2027 FIBA Asia World Cup Qualifiers.
Daniels believed Cotton had the talent to be a double-digit scorer in the NBA, and I was unsure why the NBL champion and perennial scoring champion didn’t get a shot.
“When you’re that dominant in a league for so long, you think he’s at least a bench player in the NBA,” Daniels said.
“I’m sure he could be. He’s a bit undersized, which probably goes into it, but I think he could definitely go over there and get you 10 or 15 points a night off the bench.”
Regardless, Daniels said he was excited to finally get a chance to go at the Adelaide 36ers superstar … in Boomers practice.
Never had the chance (to play against him), but I’m looking forward to it in Boomers practice,” Daniels added.
“I’ve never defended a guy like him.
“Bryce and Patty kind of play similar in a way.
“Both can really score the ball, and they’re both a little undersized.”
