Two-way player Rocco Zikarsky impressed as a starter for the Iowa Wolves, despite the team slipping to second place in the Central Division. Meanwhile, Jacob Chance guided the Austin Spurs to yet another win after being named NBA G League Coach of the Month.

Luke Travers' double double and Lachlan Olbrich 30 piece weren’t enough to inspire wins for their sides, as the pair return from NBA duties and looked to inspire a run at playoff qualification.

Elsewhere, Akoldah Gak made the most of his increased minutes, showing growing confidence for the Capital City Go-Go, who ultimately fell twice to the undefeated 10–0 Raptors 905.

Rocco Zikarsky: PTS: 13.3 | RPG: 6.5 | BLK: 2.0 | FG%: 54

Rocco Zikarsky’s Iowa Wolves have slipped from the top of the division to second place after going 1–2 against division rivals this week. On the bright side, the Aussie earned two starts, showcasing his best performance with 16 points, five rebounds, three blocks and two assists in the win against the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Queenslander has been integral to the Wolves’ 7–4 start, with his trademark energy and physicality making a major impact whether he’s in the starting five or coming off the bench. At just 19, the seven-footer has hit the ground running, with each week highlighting another step in his developing game. Across his three outings this week, Zikarsky knocked down 4–5 from beyond the arc, lifting his season average to 50 per cent from three. A dynamic big with a growing reputation for consistency and composure, his strong G League campaign has already pushed him into early Boomers selection conversations.

Lachlan Olbrich: PTS: 21.6 | RPG: 8.9 | APG: 6.3 | FG%: 54

Having split time between the NBA and G-League, Olbrich’s second game back was nothing less than impressive. The young Aussie was an absolute star recording a 30-piece along with nine rebounds in the side’s loss to the Grand Rapids Gold. Another standout performance for the for the 21-year-old rookie whose strong early-season form has earned him five NBA appearances to date. His Windy City Bulls are currently riding a four-game losing streak, have felt the impact of being without their star big man whose averages have hovered around a triple-double. The Windy City Bulls have slumped in recent weeks and now sit fifth in the Central Division just weeks after holding top spot and appearing poised to stay there. Olbrich’s mid-season promotion to the NBA could come at a cost to Windy City’s playoff hopes, with his absence highlighting just how difficult it is for the Bulls to replicate his offensive output and all-around impact.

Spurs head coach Jacob Chance

  • 2nd in Defensive Rating (104.1)
  • 4th in Net Rating (9.9)
  • 1st in Three Point Percentage (39.7)
  • 10-1 record

Fresh off being named NBA G League Coach of the Month, Jacob Chance has guided the Austin Spurs to a 10–1 record following a hard-fought win over the Mexico City Capitanes. The Spurs weren’t at their best on Tuesday, grinding out a nail-biting finish that was ultimately decided by David Jones Garcia, who buried back-to-back jumpers in the dying minutes to seal the victory. Driven by an incredibly efficient offence, Chance’s Spurs have impressed with their ability to score at all three levels. They currently rank first in three-point percentage, third in overall field-goal percentage and fourth in free-throw accuracy, giving them multiple avenues to generate scoring bursts and blow games open.

Luke Travers: PTS: 22.3 | RPG: 7.5 | APG: 4.7 | SPG: 1.5

Luke Travers’ Cleveland Charge have held their .500 record for the season, splitting their two-game series with the Noblesville Bloom. Travers featured in Thursday’s clash, posting 24 points on 65 per cent shooting, along with 12 rebounds and five assists. Despite the loss, he notched his second double-double of the season and delivered one of his strongest shooting performances after a run of inefficient outings. With just two-and-a-half games separating first and fifth in the Central Division, the upcoming stretch against division rivals could prove pivotal, giving Cleveland a real chance to climb the standings. Travers, averaging around 22 points and eight rebounds, has been a vital source of energy for the Charge as they approach a decisive phase of their campaign.

Akoldah Gak: PTS: 5.1 | RPG: 2.9 | APG: 0.9 | FG%: 55

Akoldah Gak and the Capital City Go-Go suffered two defeats this past week at the hands of the undefeated Raptors 905. In their first matchup, Gak was given extended minutes and delivered eight points, two rebounds and an assist. He backed it up in their second meeting by knocking down a three-pointer and finishing with five points and a rebound, as the Go-Go fell by a narrow four-point margin. Gak lifted his output slightly this week and made the most of the extra opportunities, showing early signs of a growing confidence in his game.

It’s been a tough week for the Aussie contingent in the G League, with several teams suffering defeats in key division matchups. One man who seems to have forgotten what losing feels like, Jacob Chance, extended his win streak to five games with the Austin Spurs. Rocco Zikarsky continues to impress in a starting role for the Iowa Wolves, his strong form already sparking conversations about Boomers selection. Meanwhile, Lachlan Olbrich and Luke Travers produced standout performances despite their teams coming up short, and Akoldah Gak looks set for a jump in form as his confidence continues to grow.
