What Happened
The Dream and Wings battled closely in the first quarter with Dallas taking a narrow 18-17 lead after the opening period. The Wings struggled offensively in the second quarter, scoring just 12 points as Atlanta seized a 37-30 halftime advantage behind Gray's consistent scoring.
Atlanta dominated the third quarter, outscoring Dallas 31-20 to build a commanding 68-50 lead heading into the final period. Brionna Jones controlled the glass during this stretch, collecting seven of her 15 rebounds to limit Dallas to single-shot possessions. However, the Wings showed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Dream 25-15 to make the final score more respectable.
Gray was the difference-maker for Atlanta, scoring 27 points on efficient 8-from-15 shooting, including 4-from-9 from beyond the arc and 7-from-8 from the free-throw line. Her six assists and three blocks showcased her all-around impact. Rhyne Howard added nine points, seven rebounds and 10 assists despite shooting just 2-from-12 from the field.
For Dallas, rookie Bueckers contributed 11 points, four rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes, though she struggled with efficiency, shooting 4-from-15. Maddy Siegrist provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and nine rebounds on 6-from-12 shooting.
The Dream's superior shooting efficiency proved decisive, as they shot 42.6% from the field compared to Dallas' 36.6%. Atlanta also dominated from three-point range, connecting on nine triples at a 37.5% clip while the Wings made just five at 21.7%. The Dream's advantage extended to the glass, where they out-rebounded the Wings 42-38, with Jones' 15 rebounds leading all players.
