Four-time NBA champion Draymond Green appears to have changed his tone on Aussie legend and former Cleveland Cavaliers cult hero Matthew Dellavedova.
Appearing on a recent episode of the Pardon My Take podcast, Green was asked about the disrespectful comments he made about Dellavedova on a live stream with Tylil and Kai Cenat.
"(Michael Jordan) wasn’t winning with Matthew Dellavedova," Green claimed on a live stream with Tylil and Kai Cenat.
"Delly stinks. (LeBron) won two games in the NBA Finals with Delly ...stinks."
Green actually doubled down on his belief that "Delly stinks" but went into detail about how much respect he has for the Boomers legend, who had to be put on an IV drip during the 2015 NBA Finals, after chasing around Stephen Curry all series.
"I got a lot of respect for Delly. He stinks. I respect him, completely stinks," he said on Pardon My Take.
"I have so much respect for Matthew Dellavedova. To come from Australia, go to a small college in St. Mary's, have zero athleticism... he has zero athleticism and yet the man was guarding the hell out of Steph Curry.
"That is pure will, determination, grit, a knowledge of the game that people don't give them credit for. You can't be that unathletic but that effective if you don't have an extremely high basketball IQ.
"I have a tonne of respect for Delly because he's so hard-nosed but both things can be true.
"I can have a tonne of respect for him and he stinks. That's just what it is. Respect and smelling good doesn't quite go together. He stinks but I respect him."
Australians have become a popular talking point with Green on certain podcasts after he also praised what big man Andrew Bogut did for his career and the Golden State Warriors dynasty on The Draymond Green Show.
"Andrew Bogut on my career is as valuable as anyone," Green said.
"Andrew Bogut taught me how to play post defence the first day I got to Golden State. Andrew Bogut helped me understand different reads on the defensive end as good as anyone has taught me. Andrew Bogut — I can never overstate enough how much he meant to the beginning of my career, and the player that I’ve been able to become.
"When you talk the beginning of the Dubs dynasty and how important Andrew Bogut was, he was that force in the middle for us.
"We knew — going up against Dwight Howard, who was a great big at the time, and going up against the great bigs in the league at the time — we knew we had a guy that could guard and stop all of them.
"During that time, bigs were very valuable. And going into these series, we knew no matter what, at the five position, we were going to be solid because Boges got them.
"He was very vital in his leadership. He was very vital to the beginning of the dynasty — to what became a dynasty. Huge.
"And like I said, just everything that he taught myself, I could never thank Boges enough, man. Incredible.
"I was so lucky to come into an organisation that had Andrew Bogut to teach me the things that he taught me, because it’s paid dividends in my career and allowed me to become the defender that I’ve become. So huge."
