Josh Giddey takes his talents to... Melbourne local league?

Josh Giddey made a surprise appearance at a Frankston local league on Monday night.

One social league player had the privilege of being blocked by the Aussie NBA star.

  • Aussie NBA star Josh Giddey made a special appearance at a local league at Frankston
  • Giddey is on track to mkae more than $30 million as a free agent this offseason
  • He was one of three players to accumulate more than 1000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists this NBA season

Only three NBA players accumulated more than 1000 points, 500 rebounds and 500 assists in the 2024-25 NBA season - Nikola Jokic, LeBron James and Josh Giddey.

But only one played local hoops in Frankston, Victoria on Monday night.

Giddey, currently a restricted free agent after a stellar season with the Chicago Bulls where he averaged 14.6 points along with 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game, shocked onlookers as he took to the court during the local social league and he didn't take it easy either.

The Boomers star was swatting away shots on defence and was pulling up for threes as social players had the opportunity to play with and against one of the NBA's brightest young prospects.

Imagine pulling up to your social league game and having to match up with a starting point guard from the NBA.

The 22-year-old from Melbourne is on track to make more than $30 million per season in free agency, according to NBA experts, after he dominated for the Bulls following his move from the Oklahoma City Thunder last offseason. He also took his performance to the next level after Chicago traded away Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings before the trade deadline.

His highlight of the season would no doubt be the half-court game-winner he hit over one of the greatest ever in LeBron James to beat the Los Angeles Lakers at the United Center.

It isn't the first time an Aussie NBA star has popped by a local stadium while starring in the world's best league.

Two-time NBA All-Star Ben Simmons took to the court for a domestic competition at Melbourne's Diamond Valley back in 2017 and like Giddey, the former Philadelphia 76ers point guard and current LA Clipper showed off his skills, dropping dimes to his teammates with it all caught on camera.

Hopefully we get the chance to see Simmons back on a court in Australia sometime soon but wearing a green and gold jersey.

NBA free agency starts on June 30.
