Josh Giddey's red-hot start to the 2025-26 NBA season has continued after recording his 19th career triple-double in an impressive performance despite his Chicago Bulls falling to their first loss of the season.
Giddey had 23 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in what was his fourth triple-double at the famous Madison Square Garden but it wasn't enough as the Knicks avenged their Emirates Cup loss from last week with a 128-116 win.
The Australian Boomers star, who recently signed a four-year and $100m extension with the Bulls, reached the feat in just his 286th career NBA game which started at the Oklahoma City Thunder before he was traded to the Bulls for Alex Caruso.
Giddey's career-best form has the Bulls surprisingly leading the Eastern Conference with a 4-1 record in an exceptional start for Hall of Fame coach Billy Donovan's team considering starting two-man Coby White is still sidelined with injury.
The Melbourne product is averaging 22 points, 8.8 assists and eight rebounds while shooting 45.5% from beyond the arc with his form sparking some early All-Star hype for Giddey.
His triple-double comes just days after he recorded a career-high in points, also against the Knicks.
Three other Aussies in Dyson Daniels, Tyrese Proctor and Jock Landale were also in action today while Charlotte's Josh Green remains out with a shoulder injury.
NBA Box Score: Atlanta Hawks @ Cleveland Cavaliers
Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels tied his season-high with 18 points against one of the Eastern Conference contenders in the Cleveland Cavaliers but it was fellow Aussie Tyrese Proctor's team who earned the victory with a 117-109 win at Rocket Arena.
Cleveland jumped out to an early lead with a dominant 33-21 first quarter but the visiting Hawks responded in the second, winning the period 30-19. And while both teams matched each other almost basket for basket after half-time, it was a 39-33 final term which allowed the Cavaliers to pull away with an eight-point win.
Daniels was impressive for the Hawks with four rebounds, four steals and three assists to go with his points tally in 36 minutes. Proctor played 11 minutes for Cleveland and recorded four points, one assist and one steal in the victory.
Proctor's minutes included a hellacious dunk attempt on Atlanta power forward Onyeka Okongwu early in the fourth quarter.
The Cavaliers have moved to 4-3 while Atlanta sit on 3-4 with star guard Trae Young on the sidelines through injury.
NBA Box Score: Memphis Grizzlies @ Toronto Raptors
Aussie big man Jock Landale continues to make an impact as a starting centre despite the struggles of his Memphis Grizzlies, who fell to a 117-104 loss at the hands of the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena.
Landale had 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal but poor second and third quarters proved too much to overcome for the Grizzlies without suspended star guard Ja Morant.
The Boomers Olympic bronze medallist went 2-from-2 from the three-point line against the Raptors as he built on his season averages of 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds as he takes advantage of more opportunity without regular starting big man, Zach Edey.
Memphis now sit 10th in the Western Conference with a 3-4 record.
NBA Box Score: Chicago Bulls @ New York Knicks
In career-best form, Chicago Bulls point guard and Australian Boomers star Josh Giddey recorded his 19th triple-double as the Bulls were defeated for the first time this season against the New York Knicks
As of early in the fourth quarter, Giddey had 23 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds but the Bulls trailed the Knicks by as much as 21 points. The feat takes the Melbourne product's tally to an incredible 19 triple-doubles in 286 career NBA games.
A poor first quarter was the catalyst for the Bulls loss, who still sit atop the Eastern Conference ladder despite the result.
