Jock Landale is in career best form and the NBA community is taking note.
So much so, a member of the famous Redeem Team from the 2008 Olympic Games has called for teams needing an extra boost for a playoff push to look at acquiring the Australian Boomers big man.
One-time NBA All-Star and Milwaukee Bucks legend Michael Redd, who played 12 seasons in the league, praised the Memphis Grizzlies back-up centre on social media.
"This is a deep cut, but Jock Landale really is a decent bench big," Redd posted on X.
"I enjoy the way he plays. I haven't done the front office work -- salary, eligibility, etc. -- but would theoretically be a nice bench addition for a playoff team that needs a little punch for a few minutes."
Landale is averaging career-best figures in every major statistical category after signing with the Grizzlies from the Houston Rockets, having started early in the season with Zach Edey sidelined with injury before starring in a reserve role since and even establishing himself as one of the best reserve bigs in the NBA.
The 30-year-old is averaging 10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting the three ball at an elite 43% on 2.4 attempts per game. He has also stepped up in some key match-ups this season, tying his career-high of 26 points in a loss to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on November 25 - where he also grabbed 10 rebounds.
But Landale's form may go to waste with Memphis limping through an inconsistent season, headlined by an injury and issues surrounding star point guard Ja Morant.
The Grizzlies currently sit ninth in a stacked Western Conference with an 11-13 record and while they may qualify for the play-in, their form indicates they would be heading for an early vacation.
So which teams could use Landale's talents in a playoff push? We've decided to chuck some ideas together on franchises who would benefit from the Aussie enforcer's talents.
TOP 5 POSSIBLE LANDALE TRADE DESTINATIONS
Miami Heat: Beyond Bam Adebayo and Kel'el Ware, the Miami Heat are light on for quality bigs. Landale's IQ would be a perfect fit for Eric Spoelstra's new and efficient low pick and roll offence and would give the likes of Norman Powell, Tyler Hero and more space to operate. He could also play the four himself, or allow Bam to play the four with his mobility and versatility. Also just quietly, could you imagine the toughness of Landale in Heat Culture? A great fit.
Atlanta Hawks: Could he be united with Aussie star Dyson Daniels in Atlanta? Kristaps Porzingis regularly misses games, meaning they need some quality backup minutes for Onyeka Okongwu who is ever reliable. Also with Trae Young seemingly on the outer with how the Hawks have performed since he's been injured, could Landale be a side piece in a Trae for Ja Morant trade between Atlanta and Memphis?
Boston Celtics: The Celtics are heavily depleted in the big man spots after trading Kristaps Porzingis and since Al Horford departed to the Golden State Warriors. Neemias Queta is doing the heavy lifting playing 24 minutes per game and Landale could easily take some minutes off Jordan Walsh, Josh Minott or Luka Garza - none of which are going to help you in a playoff series. Also with rumours star Jayson Tatum could return earlier than first thought, Landale could provide the Celtics with another much-needed boost and can start if the moment gets too big for Queta.
Los Angeles Lakers: Could easily take the backup centre minutes off Jaxson Hayes, although we know how much the Lakers and Luka Doncic love a lob threat. However, we also know how much floor spacing could mean for the likes of Doncic and LeBron James. We also all saw how Hayes melted in the pressure-cooker that is the playoffs last season and there's no way a tough, no-nonsense Landale would do that - if anything, his performances will step up, as he's shown in big games at the Olympic Games.
Philadelphia 76ers: With Philadelphia probably off to a better start than most predicted, following the lead of superstar Tyrese Maxey as well as the emergence of rookie guard VJ Edgecomb and the form of Quentin Grimes, Landale could be a straight awap for Andre Drummond who's never played winning basketball. Landale also brings a different look than Joel Embiid and Drummond with his ability to stretch the floor. With Embiid also struggling to stay on the floor due to injury, Landale has shown he can step up as a starter.
