What Happened
The Storm established dominance early, racing to a 34-20 lead in the first quarter behind Ogwumike's efficient scoring and exceptional team ball movement. Seattle extended their advantage in the second period, outscoring Las Vegas 24-16 to take a commanding 58-36 halftime lead. The Aces never recovered from this 22-point deficit.
Las Vegas showed signs of life in the third quarter, with Jackie Young and A'ja Wilson combining for 17 points in the period. However, Seattle matched their intensity, maintaining their lead at 80-59 heading into the final frame. Both teams scored 22 points in the fourth quarter as the Storm cruised to a comfortable 20-point victory.
Erica Wheeler provided a tremendous spark off the bench for Seattle, contributing 21 points on an efficient 8-from-11 shooting, including 3-from-5 from beyond the arc. Her seven assists and two steals highlighted her all-around impact. Meanwhile, Gabby Williams added 12 points and five assists while playing stellar perimeter defence with two steals.
The Storm's offence was outstanding, shooting 60 percent from the field (42-from-70) compared to the Aces' 43.9 percent (29-from-66). Seattle's ball movement was particularly impressive, generating 32 assists on 42 made baskets. This unselfish approach created high-percentage scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Seattle's defence limited the Aces' offensive rhythm, holding key players below their season averages. While Young and Jewell Loyd each scored 14 points for Las Vegas, both struggled with efficiency. Young committed four turnovers while Loyd shot just 4-from-15 from the field. With this win, Seattle improves to 3-1 and moves up to third in the WNBA standings, while Las Vegas drops to 2-2, placing them fifth in the early season standings.
