- Josh Giddey locks in $100M deal with Chicago
Boomers stars Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels are now worth a combined $307M — the most expensive backcourt in Australian basketball history.
Giddey, 23, and Daniels, 22, both signed four-year USD $100M rookie contract extensions before the start of the 2025-26 National Basketball Association season.
Melbourne-born Giddey inked his deal with the Chicago Bulls on September 10, 2025 and Bendigo-born Daniels, today, with the Atlanta Hawks.
Both Victorians started for the Boomers at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris under then head coach Brian Goorjian.
They will be just 25 years old at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and in their primes at the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane.
Australia's veteran backcourt, "FIBA" Patty Mills has earned USD $85.5M in his 16-year NBA career while Matthew Dellavedova earned USD $45M during his nine-year NBA career. Free agent Mills is still unsigned heading into the 2025-26 and Dellavedova is the captain of the Sydney Kings in the NBL.
Daniels and Giddey have been friends for more than a decade; they met while playing junior basketball.
The pair bantered on Stellar magazine’s set (Giddey calls Daniels his "little brother") as they starred in their first joint fashion shoot during the off-season in Australia.
"We grew up playing against each other … [Dyson] was a Bendigo boy, from the country, and I was Melbourne, in the city, we crossed paths a lot," Giddey said.
“When we were 16, 17, we both moved to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. And then our paths have been aligned from juniors to the AIS to the NBA.
"We’re still very close.”
Daniels added: “We kind of went through every phase of life together. We’ve grown up together. I became really close with [Josh’s] family."

Daniels finished the 2024-25 regular season as the league's Most Improved Player, leading the NBA in six key defensive categories:
- Steals (229)
- Steals per game (3.01)
- Total deflections (443)
- Deflections per game (5.8)
- Total stocks (284, steals + blocks)
- Total stops (297, steals + blocks + offensive fouls drawn)
While Giddey's game went to another level after the 2025 All-Star Game. Between January and April 2025, the Australian guard elevated his production across the board:
- Scoring: 16.8 points per game (up from 12.3 in the first two months)
- Rebounding: 9.2 rebounds per game (up from 5.7)
- Assists: 7.7 assists per game (up from 6.1)
- Field goal percentage: 48.3% (up from 41.2%)
- Three-point percentage: 38.6% (up from 30.1%)
In the 2025-26 preseason, Giddey showed why the Bulls locked him into a four-year deal, averaging a near triple double per 36 minutes.
