Free agency and trades that impact Australian NBA players
- Matisse Thybulle and Ja Morant were both part of the 2019 NBA Draft class. Now they are teammates in Portland after the Memphis Grizzlies agreed to trade two-time NBA All-Star Morant to Thybulle's Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for veteran forward Jerami Grant and second-year wing Kris Murray, according to ESPN. The blockbuster deal signals a major reset in Memphis, while Portland lands its franchise point guard in Morant after sending experienced forward Grant and promising young wing Murray to the Grizzlies. Portland will pair Morant with Damian Lillard.
- Dyson Daniels' Atlanta Hawks have declined the USD $24.3 million team option on forward Jonathan Kuminga for the 2026-27 NBA season, making the 23-year-old an unrestricted free agent, according to ESPN. - Proctor's Cleveland Cavaliers teammate James Harden has declined his USD $42.3 million player option for the 2026-27 NBA season, with both sides now working toward a new multi-year contract, according to ESPN.
