Taine Murray and Sam McDaniel are both out. Murray misses the whole of the Code Sports NBL Blitz with a lower limb injury carried out of the off-season and is due back on court in four to six weeks. McDaniel hurt a hand at training and is expected back in about a month. Both keep their places here: they are contracted, both are projected in the rotation, and the club has put a return inside the opening weeks rather than ruling either out. On the timings the club has given, both are in doubt for the 19 September opener.
Billy McRae has signed as a development player, so he does not take a contracted spot and Brisbane remain full at eleven. The 18-year-old is 6ft 5in and the club describes him only as a guard, so his slot here is our projection: he averaged 11.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists for Warwick Senators in NBL1 West and took the organisation's Coaches Award, and won a silver medal at the FIBA U17 Oceania Cup in December, where a 19-point, 14-rebound, seven-assist semi-final against Guam headlined averages of 6.8 points and 5.8 rebounds. This projection also moves Lat Mayen from small forward to second-string power forward, with Harry Rouhliadeff behind him. Archie Woodhill has since joined as a nominated replacement player, which also sits outside the cap, so the Bullets remain at eleven. The 24-year-old centre arrives from two seasons at Tasmania and won the NBL23 title with Sydney, and averaged 17.9 points and 7.5 rebounds at 65.5 per cent from the field for Diamond Valley Eagles in NBL1 South. The club has not said whom he replaces.

Malique Lewis completes the roster. The 2026 NBA Draft pick, taken 60th by Milwaukee, signed on 25 August on a two-year deal with a club option for the second year, and the club says the signing completes its NBL27 squad. He arrives from South East Melbourne, where he spent two seasons as a Next Star, played 63 games and averaged 6.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals in NBL26. He is an import on the club's own wording (Adam Forde describes him as filling "the import spot"), which gives Cairns two, alongside Jaylon Brown. Small forward is the league's own projection. Jaylin Galloway has signed a one-year deal, announced on 15 August after a mutual release from the Sydney Kings. He is not available for the 20 September opener after a further shoulder operation, and is projected here at shooting guard, where the league's own chart places him. Luke Paul is carrying an ankle injury and is marked unavailable rather than merely reported, but keeps his place because neither club nor league has ruled him out. Walter Brown is carried here although the club's signing story does not name him. That release lists an eleven-man squad without him, the third club prose list to omit him; the league's roster tracker still carries him as incoming and still gives him a small-forward slot, and the contracted count only reaches a complete eleven with him in it. Brody Nunn is a development player whom the league lists as a fourth-string point guard; this chart runs three deep, so he is named here rather than given a slot.

Tyler Harvey is a local, and Illawarra's three import places are Milton Doyle, Darius Days and Kelan Martin. Harvey became an Australian citizen on Saturday 29 August, which is what freed the third place. This chart said the opposite until 6 September: it was written on 27 August, two days before the ceremony, and a sentence that was true on the day it was published stopped being true without anyone editing it.
Kelan Martin fills the starting power forward slot this chart had been holding open. He has since played for the Hawks, and Illawarra fielded Doyle, Days, Martin and Harvey in the same game, which only works if Harvey is a local.

Sean Macdonald will miss the whole of NBL27. Melbourne United confirmed on 1 September that he will undergo a second ACL reconstruction, having first ruptured the knee playing for the Australian Boomers in August 2025. He is a nominated replacement player and sits outside the cap either way, so the roster still reads eleven of eleven; he is named beneath the chart rather than given a depth slot, because a chart projects who plays. Shea Ili is now the only specialist back-up point guard behind Cole Anthony. This projection reshuffles more than most: Luke Travers starts at small forward with Joe Ingles behind him, Tom Wilson moves from third-string point guard to back-up shooting guard, Kyle Bowen shifts to back-up power forward, and Fabijan Krslovic moves to back-up centre, filling the slot the club's previous chart left as an unnamed import.

Charles Bediako starts at centre, not power forward. This chart previously projected him one place across; the club lists him as a centre and the league's own depth chart agrees, so Bediako and Sam Mennenga swap and Mennenga starts at power forward. Bediako is the club's third import and the roster is full at eleven of eleven. Four development players are now on the list: Tukaha Cooper, Kazlo Evans Jr., Kael Robinson and Aubrey Chunga. Cooper was previously carried without the marker; a development player sits outside the eleven, so tagging him costs the club no contracted spot. Aubrey Chunga is ranked fourth small forward on the league's chart; this one runs three deep, so he is named here rather than given a slot. Gordon Herbert is the new head coach, replacing Petteri Koponen.

Tana Kopa is on the chart from 6 September, on Peter Brown's instruction and the club's own signing release, which calls him a West Australian guard signed as a development player on a two-year deal. He was named in this note rather than placed until now because no position had been published. The column is ours, not the club's: the release says guard without saying which, and the point-guard column is already three deep, so he is shown at shooting guard.
The empty first slot at point guard is real, and Perth are in no hurry to fill it. General manager of basketball Danny Mills said on 2 September that whoever arrives will not play in the Code Sports NBL Blitz, and that the club would be "very strategic" rather than "bring a guy in to bring a guy in". Jaron Rillie is recovering from hamstring surgery, so Elijah Pepper and Anthony Dell'Orso are covering the position through the pre-season.
Jimmy Whitt has signed as a nominated replacement player on a one-year contract. The 6ft 3in guard arrives from the Gold Coast Rollers, for whom he averaged 22.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists a game before they swept Ipswich 2-0 in the NBL1 North grand final series. He is named here rather than placed in the rotation because the club has not given a position, and he carries no import marker because his classification has not been stated. Blake Nielsen has had a reconstruction on a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and the club expects him to miss the entirety of the 2026-27 season, so he moves from the depth chart to the note; he remains a development player on the roster and neither he nor Whitt counts against the eleven. Marley Sam has a sprained ligament in his wrist and will be reassessed in two weeks, a timeline that keeps him available well before the season opens, so he is still projected as the third-string point guard. Angus Brandt fills the back-up centre spot this chart previously carried as an unfilled local slot; his depth position is our projection, not the club's. The one remaining gap is deliberate: the starting point guard slot is being held for a third import. Anthony Dell'Orso, signed for three years out of the NCAA, is projected to start at shooting guard ahead of Elijah Pepper.

Yannis Morin starts at power forward. He was previously shown third at small forward, which was our own projection rather than the club's; both the NBL's own NBL27 roster tracker and our SuperCoach analysis already had him at power forward ahead of Hunter Goodrick, so this brings the chart into line with them. Goodrick moves to second and Daniel Foster to third, and small forward now runs two deep behind D'Shawn Schwartz. Morin's arrival takes South East Melbourne to all three import places used, and moving him between columns does not change that count.
Sam Davidson is confirmed by the club. South East Melbourne announced the signing on 2 September, with general manager of basketball operations Simon Mitchell saying the 25-year-old "really showed his skill and work ethic during the recent pre-season games". ESPN's Olgun Uluc reported a one-year deal on 1 September; the club has not stated the term. He averaged 15.9 points for the Dandenong Rangers in NBL1 South and has already played through the Phoenix's pre-season, with 14 points, four assists and three steals against Japan's B.League United side. He is a local, which is the only way the roster works with all three import places already used. His arrival fills the last place and takes South East Melbourne to eleven of eleven. The open spot this chart had been carrying at power forward is filled by a guard instead. His depth position behind Skylar Mays is our projection, not the club's.

The roster is complete at eleven of eleven. Will Johnston signed on 25 August as the final piece, a guard on a one-year deal who played the 2026 NBA Summer League with the New York Knicks and averaged 28 points in NBL1 East for Hornsby Ku-ring-Gai. He fills the spot left open when Jaylin Galloway was released to Cairns on 15 August. Andrew Carr is a nominated replacement player for Keli Leaupepe, so he sits outside the contracted eleven rather than taking a third import place; the club describes him as an import big man, and whether a nominated replacement consumes an import slot has still not been stated. Leaupepe is injured and keeps his contracted spot. Kendric Davis and Torrey Craig are the two imports inside the eleven. Depth positions follow the club's own listing rather than our projection, which has moved Makuach Maluach to the second guard line, Jason Spurgin to centre and Leaupepe back to power forward.
Bailey Hanson joined as a development player on 1 September, a young guard who averaged 12.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.0 steals for Norths in NBL1 East this season. A development player sits outside the contracted eleven, so the roster is still complete at eleven of eleven and he does not take a squad place. His position here is ours, not the club's. The Kings have said only that he is a guard, and he is shown at point guard on the strength of his assist rate. It will be corrected the moment the club lists him.
Lachlan Bofinger signed as a second nominated replacement player on 1 September, a 25-year-old forward who averaged 16.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and three assists for the Norths Bears in NBL1 East this season. He is a local, so he takes no import place, and like Andrew Carr he sits outside the contracted eleven, which remains full. Power forward is the league's own placement, not our projection. He arrives as cover with Kendric Davis stranded in the United States by a passport delay that rules him out of the CODE Sports NBL Blitz; that is a travel absence from a pre-season event rather than a season one, so Davis is unchanged at starting point guard here.
