Bogut v Kelley: Comments spark 36ers response
Highlights
The NBL26 Championship Series continues to heat up after a skirmish between owners
- Game 1: 'Saturday night slaughter' as KD's Kings fire first shot
- Game 2: Cotton game-winner levels series as KD loses his cool
- Game 3: 'All love' as KD talks Cotton clash as Kings take Game 3
As if the rivalry during the NBL26 Championship Series wasn't already heated enough - it may have gone to a whole other level after a furore between Sydney Kings co-owner and assistant coach Andrew Bogut and Adelaide 36ers owner Grant Kelley reached fever pitch.
The 36ers released a statement today, saying they have given notice to the NBL surrounding concerns about alleged comments from Bogut about Kelley, which kicked-off after game two of the series in Adelaide on March 27.
Adelaide's statement comes after Kelley told CODE Sports Basketball Bogut targeted him in front of his son in the tunnels at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre just moments after an explosive confrontation between Kendric Davis and Bryce Cotton.
“He looked at me and I looked back and said ‘I’ve got nothing to say to you, mate’, no swearing, and he goes ‘get f***ed you fat f***ing c***’,” Kelley alleged to CODE Sports.
“He’s a nasty piece of work.”
Bogut then gave his version of events to CODE Sports' Michael Randall and Matt Logue.
“Grant came to my face talking shit in the tunnel, which is a space he shouldn’t be in immediately post game,” Bogut said.
“I didn’t go to him. He sought me out.
“I talked shit back as he waddled off.
“He is now playing victim as only he can.
“That is the last I will comment on the stupidity of this whole interaction.”
Bogut later tweeted an image of Family Guy's main character, Peter Griffin, with a basketball in each hand to which Kelley took offence.
He then backed it up with another cryptic Instagram story following Sydney's win in game three to lead the series 2-1.

"Great win! One more to go! Nice to get back to the locker room unencumbered tonight, in what one can only assume was a rush to major sponsor hungryjacksau's drive thru outlet," he posted.
The statement from the 36ers said the club stood "against cyber bullying in the wake of persistent and repeated personal attacks on club owner Grant Kelley".
"The Adelaide 36ers are aware of persistent and repeated personal attacks by a Sydney Kings co-owner and assistant coach directed towards our owner Grant Kelley," the release said.
"The 36ers understand that body shaming is not a joke but rather, a very real source of anxiety and emotional distress for people of all genders and ages. We also stand against cyber-bullying in all its forms.
"Accordingly, we have today given notice to the NBL of our concerns and will address the matter further with them and other regulatory authorities during the NBL off season.
"For now, our attention returns to creating another fantastic home court environment for our fans, coaches and players to be at their best in Game Four of the NBL Championship Series on Wednesday night."
