NBA veterans Ben Simmons and Patty Mills won't play in 2025-26 season while Australian Boomers stars Dyson Daniels and Josh Giddey both signed a USD $100M extensions before the start of the season.
Seventeen Australian men's basketballers, including four 2025 draftees, secured contracts before of the start of the season on October 22, 2025 but the sands shifted dramatically during the 2026 Trade Deadline.
Simmons reportedly received a one-year minimum contract offer from the New York Knicks, which he has rejected, reported Marc Stein.
Aussies in the NBA Contracts Status in 2025-26
- Alex Toohey: Signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors on Monday, September 29, 2025 but was waived after a season-ending knee injury.
- Ben Simmons: Unsigned Free agent. Now a professional fisherman.
- Dante Exum: Signed a one-year $3.3M (USD) deal on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Was traded to the Washington Wizards but waived just days later.
- Duop Reath: Had one year remaining worth $2.2M, fully guaranteed by the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday, August 2, 2025. But was traded to the Atlanta Hawks before the deadline and subsequently waived.
- Dyson Daniels: Signed a four-year USD $100M extension with the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
- Joe Ingles: Signed a one-year, veteran minimum $3.6M with Minnesota Timberwolves.
- Jock Landale: Signed with the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, July 6, 2025. Was traded to the Utah Jazz and then to the Atlanta Hawks for cash considerations.
- Johnny Furphy: Three years remaining; 2025-26 worth $1.95M; 2026-27 worth $2.2M; and 2027-28 team option worth $2.4M.
- Josh Giddey: Four-year USD $100M extension with the Chicago Bulls on September 10, 2025 (AEST).
- Josh Green: Two years remaining; 2025-26 worth $13.6M; $14.6M in 2026-27.
- Kyrie Irving: Declines $42.9M player option, intends to sign 3-year $119M deal to stay with Mavericks.
- Lachlan Olbrich: Drafted by the Chicago Bulls. Signed a two-way contract on Friday, July 4, 2025.
- Luke Travers: Signed another two-way contract with Cleveland. But was waived before the trade deadline.
- Matisse Thybulle: Opts in to $11.5M extension on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
- Patty Mills: Unsigned free agent.
- Rocco Zikarsky: Drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, signed a two-way contract for two years worth $1.2M USD.
- Tyrese Proctor: The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed No.49 overall pick Proctor to a four-year, $8.69 million deal. The first two seasons are fully guaranteed, third-year significant partial guarantee, and a fourth-year team option.

- Jack McVeigh: Waived by the Houston Rockets, signed with the Cairns Taipans
- Alex Ducas: Signed with the Brisbane Bullets.
- Taran Armstrong: Signed with EuroLeague debutant Dubai.
