Triple Dou-BULL: Olbrich's Giddey-esque stat line

Lachlan Olbrich drops his first triple-double in the G-League for the Windy City Bulls.

Australians and triple-doubles in a Bulls uniform go hand-in-hand.
As Lachlan Olbrich showed today after a dominant performance for the Windy City Bulls in the G League as the former Illawarra Hawks big man had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a 129-122 loss to the Sioux Falls Skyforce at Now Arena in Illinois today.
Signed to a two-way deal with the Chicago Bulls after being drafted 55th overall, Olbrich has been in red-hot form with the NBA franchise's G League affiliate, culminating in his best performance of the short season so far against the Skyforce.
The 21-year-old South Australian product went 8-from-13 from the field for Windy City, 1-from-3 from the three-point line and also had two blocks and a steal in his 26 minutes.
Olbrich's latest performance takes his season average to 18.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game through six appearances for the Bulls.
It's no wonder why Chicago coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls saw him as great fit for the future, as CHGO Bulls reporter Will Gottlieb told basketball.com.au on the eve of the season.
"I know the Bulls like really value big men who can make plays, who can screen, who can run, and who can operate in dribble hand-offs," Gottlieb said.
"That's very much in his skill set. That's what they liked about him and why they felt comfortable drafting him.
"Obviously at Summer League, he was one of the more featured players.... I think he's got sort of an interesting skill set that a lot of like teams are sort of building around now. It's bigs who can dribble past, shoot a little bit, who work hard, and physicality, I think he really adds to that too.
"He's got good touch around the rim, so he had some nice moments. He can run the break a little bit, grab and go, and I think they're pretty excited about him."
You could also say, with Olbrich's triple-double outing, he's following the lead of fellow Aussie and Bulls star Josh Giddey, who has been a triple-double machine in the NBA.
The 2025 NBL champion is one of many Aussies plying their trade in the G League with other talents such as rookie big man Rocco Zikarsky and Luke Travers also showcasing they have what it takes to make the jump to the NBA.
Olbrich is yet to make his NBA debut after an impressive NBA Summer League in Las Vegas in July.
