Goorjian’s frank call on future as King Bogut looms

The NBL’s greatest coach Brian Goorjian has revealed he is treating “every day” like this season will be his last with the Sydney Kings.
And Goorjian’s looming swansong is set to pave the way for Australian Boomers and NBA legend Andrew Bogut to become the Kings’ next coach.
“My approach is that I’m coaching every day like this is it,” Goorjian told Code Sports' Crosscourt when asked if he was open to coaching the Kings again next season.
“I had a three-year contract and I’ve been involved in a mentorship with (Bogut) is moving along nicely.
“That was the plan to come in and mentor Andrew and wherever that goes and grows to. This is year two of that and I’m at the finish of my contract.”
As for Goorjian’s next move – the seven-time championship winner is keeping his cards close to his chest.
The 73-year-old is locked in on coaching his 27th NBL season and is putting all his energy into helping Sydney win back-to-back titles.
Code Sports understands a return to Asia – where Goorjian has previously excelled in China and Japan – could be an option for the supercoach.
