The opening day of the 2026 Rising Stars Invitational Australia Qualifiers belonged to the shot-makers, creators and game-breakers who turned Melbourne’s State Basketball Centre into an all-day showcase of elite high school basketball talent.
Ty Synnott exploded for 70 combined points across two games, Tyrese Kuridu poured in 36 in one of the individual performances of the day, while Izabella Mansory, Makayla Craven, Achilles Gulic and Farren Langmaid all drove undefeated starts for their teams.
Across 12 games, players consistently dictated tempo through transition offence, perimeter shooting and defensive pressure as more than 1,900 total points were scored heading into Saturday’s pool finals and quarter-finals.

Ty Synnott kept St Joseph’s College FTG in the contest early, but St Patrick’s College Ballarat’s efficiency inside and transition pressure broke the game open before halftime.
Synnott exploded for a game-high 31 points, but St Patrick’s College Ballarat’s balanced frontcourt attack and dominant interior scoring powered a 99–81 win in the opening game of the RSI Australia Qualifiers at SBC Court 1.
The St Joseph’s College FTG guard knocked down five threes and repeatedly created offence off the dribble, scoring 15 first-half points to keep his side within reach as Ballarat built momentum through the middle quarters.
But St Patrick’s College Ballarat answered with relentless paint production led by Lucas Byrne, Noah Phillips and Jackson Hood. Byrne finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 7-from-8 shooting, while Phillips was perfect from the field, going 8-from-8 for 16 points and seven rebounds.
Hood added 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists despite foul trouble, while guard Joe Buckle controlled tempo with 16 points and six assists as Ballarat generated 28 assists and 56 points in the paint.
St Patrick’s took control during a decisive 33-point second quarter, pushing the margin to 19 at halftime before extending the lead to as many as 28 in the second half through transition scoring and offensive rebounding.
Charlie Burnett provided an energetic lift off the bench for St Joseph’s College FTG with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Blake Phillips added 10 points.
Ballarat finished with a 52–41 rebounding edge and outscored St Joseph’s College FTG 29–10 in fast-break points.

Parker Rivet and Lachie Pickering set the tone early as Berwick College exploded offensively from the opening quarter and never allowed Willetton Senior High School into the contest.
Rivet produced one of the most complete performances of the opening session with 15 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and five steals as Berwick College rolled to a 111–63 win at SBC Court 4.
The Berwick guard was flawless from the field, shooting 5-from-5 while consistently creating transition opportunities and forcing turnovers as his side piled on 33 points from turnovers and 38 fast-break points.
Forward Pickering added 15 points on 7-from-11 shooting and finished +42, while bench forward Zach Morrell poured in 18 points on 8-from-13 from the field in an efficient scoring display.
Berwick’s frontcourt depth overwhelmed Willetton throughout the morning, with Jake Shaw contributing 14 points and six rebounds off the bench, Harry De Koning adding 10 points and nine rebounds, and Steven Tasic finishing with eight points and six rebounds.
Berwick led 30–10 after the opening quarter before extending the margin to 35 by halftime through relentless paint attacks and defensive pressure. The Victorian school finished with 70 points in the paint, 52 bench points and 17 steals.
Willetton Senior High School struggled to protect the ball, committing 24 turnovers while shooting 32 per cent from the field.
Forward Sam Gooch led Willetton with 16 points and seven rebounds, while guard Luke Martin added 13 points despite eight turnovers. Julien Richardson scored 11 points off the bench.

Forward Elley Hawken controlled the boards with 16 points and 19 rebounds, including nine offensive rebounds, while Sasha Claque added 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Sophie Chen gave Barker another scoring option off the bench with 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Peyton Skinner finished with nine assists and no turnovers.
Barker’s pressure created 25 Flinders turnovers and turned them into 29 points. Barker also finished with 58 points in the paint, 20 second-chance points and 24 assists.
Maddi Carr led Flinders College with 14 points, including three threes, while Kai Stirrup added 10 points and three rebounds. Ava McLelland contributed six points and five rebounds off the bench.
Flinders shot 33 per cent from the field and scored just eight points in the final quarter as Barker pushed the margin out late.

Kuridu delivered one of the standout individual performances of the opening day with 36 points as Western Heights College held off Templestowe College 94–91 in a high-scoring contest at SBC Court 4.
Kuridu shot 11-from-15 from the field, knocked down four threes and repeatedly attacked the rim, adding six rebounds and four assists while drawing 13 fouls across the afternoon.
The Western Heights guard scored efficiently throughout the game, helping his side shoot 50 per cent from the field and 37 per cent from three-point range.
Forward Riak Akhaur provided major production off the bench with 13 points and seven rebounds on 5-from-6 shooting, while Ragge Abeil added 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists despite seven turnovers.
Templestowe stayed within striking distance behind the shot-making of Cooper Gill and Ryder Cleary. Gill finished with 21 points on 7-from-11 shooting, including three threes, while Cleary added 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Guard Noah Singh scored 18 points and dished four assists, while forward Eros Addamo controlled the glass with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Templestowe scored 24 points in the fourth quarter and cut the margin late, but Western Heights converted enough free throws down the stretch to close out the win.

Keira Robinson kept JSR competitive with 24 points, including four made threes, while Bel Bullock added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Guard Sadie Jones contributed 12 points and seven assists, while centre Jasmine Giles added 11 points and eight rebounds.
JSR matched Rowville on the boards at 44 rebounds apiece, but the turnover differential proved decisive.

The Western Heights guard shot 5-from-10 from the field and provided key scoring during a dominant third quarter in which Trinity managed just six points.
Forward Collins added 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while Riak Akhaur contributed 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks in an efficient two-way performance.
Western Heights also received balanced production from Tyrese Kuridu, who finished with seven points, six assists and three steals, and Manny Majak, who controlled the glass with 12 rebounds.
After leading by four at halftime, Western Heights broke the game open in the third quarter through rebounding pressure, transition opportunities and perimeter shooting, eventually pushing the margin to 20.
Trinity College struggled offensively throughout the afternoon, shooting 33 per cent from the field and just 3-from-14 from three-point range.
Guard Sam Upton led Trinity with 17 points, while Josh Louis added 12 points and David Jaja finished with 11 rebounds.
Western Heights dominated the rebounding battle 53–48 and scored 23 points from turnovers.
