Australian guard Jade Melbourne scored 12 points and attacked the rim consistently, but the Seattle Storm fell to the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis on Monday (AEST).
Indiana broke the game open with 32 first-quarter points and maintained control through the middle quarters behind the playmaking of Caitlin Clark, who finished with 21 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. The Fever led by as many as 21 points during the third quarter.
Melbourne started for Seattle and went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line while adding three assists in 29 minutes. Natisha Hiedeman led the Storm with 19 points, while Flau’jae Johnson added 14 points, six rebounds and four blocks.
Kelsey Mitchell scored 17 points for Indiana and Sophie Cunningham added 17 points off the bench as the Fever shot 46% from the field and finished perfect at the foul line.
Seattle struggled on the glass and from the perimeter, finishing with a -14 rebounding margin and shooting 26% from three-point range. The Storm also played without Australian Opals centre Ezi Magbegor, who was sidelined with a right foot injury.

Australian forward Stephanie Talbot and the Las Vegas Aces survived a dramatic late comeback as Chelsea Gray hit the game-winning jumper with 3.6 seconds left to edge the Atlanta Dream 85-84 on Monday (AEST).
Gray finished with 21 points, six assists and five made three-pointers, delivering a fading jumper in the lane after Las Vegas regained possession on a jump ball in the final seconds. The shot capped a chaotic finish after Atlanta erased a 19-point second-half deficit.
The Dream closed the game on a 16-0 run and took their first lead of the second half when Jordin Canada scored in transition with 36 seconds remaining to put Atlanta ahead 84-83. After Gray missed an initial attempt in the lane, the Aces secured a jump-ball possession before Gray created space for the winner.
Talbot started for Las Vegas and finished with five rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 16 minutes while defending multiple frontcourt assignments. A'ja Wilson added 20 points and moved into 19th on the WNBA all-time scoring list, while Chennedy Carter scored 20 points off the bench.
Atlanta was led by Allisha Gray’s 25 points and nine rebounds, while Te-Hina Paopao added 19 points and rookie Madina Okot recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Australian guard Isobel Borlase played four minutes for Atlanta and collected one rebound.
The Aces won despite Jackie Young going scoreless on 0-from-12 shooting – the first scoreless game of her career since 2020 – while Las Vegas made the decisive difference from three-point range, shooting 37% compared to Atlanta’s 22%.

Head coach Sandy Brondello guided the expansion Toronto Tempo to their first road win in franchise history as Brittney Sykes exploded for a career-high 38 points in a 106-96 win against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday (AEST).
Toronto controlled the game after breaking an early 18-18 tie late in the first quarter, closing the period on a 9-3 run before building a double-digit advantage for most of the second half. The Tempo bounced back after losing to Los Angeles two nights earlier.
Sykes dominated offensively, finishing 15-of-15 from the free-throw line while adding three steals. Rookie Kiki Rice scored 19 points in her first WNBA start, while Marina Mabrey added 14 points and Kia Nurse scored 10 points off the bench.
Toronto’s aggressive downhill attack repeatedly pressured the Sparks defence, with the Tempo finishing 39-of-42 from the foul line and shooting 48% overall from the field.
The Sparks were led by Kelsey Plum with 28 points, while Dearica Hamby added 21 points and nine rebounds. Nneka Ogwumike contributed 17 points and seven rebounds.
Toronto improved to 2-2 in its inaugural WNBA season under Brondello, while Los Angeles dropped to 1-3.
