  • Tina Charles (Sun) scored 20 points and had five rebounds in 26 minutes.

What Happened

The Aces established dominance early, jumping to a 24-13 first-quarter lead behind Jewell Loyd's hot shooting. They maintained control throughout the second frame, extending their advantage to 52-29 by halftime. The third quarter followed a similar pattern as Las Vegas outscored Connecticut 26-17 to build an insurmountable 78-46 cushion heading into the final period.

Loyd caught fire from beyond the arc, connecting on six three-pointers en route to 20 points. Her sharpshooting was instrumental in the Aces building their substantial lead.

Meanwhile, Jackie Young added 16 points with perfect 2-from-2 shooting from deep, and Chelsea Gray contributed 12 points and four assists.

A'ja Wilson dominated on both ends, recording a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds while adding four assists, three steals, and two blocks in an outstanding two-way performance. Her presence in the paint was overwhelming, as she went to the free-throw line 12 times, converting 10 attempts. Wilson's efficiency and defensive presence helped the Aces control the game from start to finish.

The Aces displayed superior shooting across the board, hitting 38.8% from the field compared to Connecticut's 34.4%. The difference was even more pronounced from three-point range, where Las Vegas connected on 10-of-26 attempts (38.5%) while the Sun managed just 3-of-17 (17.6%). The Aces also dominated the glass, outrebounding the Sun 41-34, with 12 offensive rebounds leading to valuable second-chance opportunities.

For Connecticut, Tina Charles provided the only consistent offensive threat with 20 points on 7-from-15 shooting. Rookie Saniya Rivers added 11 points off the bench, but the Sun struggled with ball control, committing 16 turnovers which the opportunistic Aces converted into transition opportunities.

The loss drops Connecticut to 0-2 to start the season, while Las Vegas evens its record at 1-1 with the impressive road victory.
