Trades, waivers and injuries have changed the NBA career trajectories for multiple Australian men's basketballers who suited up at the start of the 2025-26 season.

This is the complete update of every player post the 2026 NBA Trade Deadline.

Australians in the NBA in 2025-26

Alex Toohey signed a two-way NBA & G-League contract with the Golden State Warriors after being drafted with pick 52 in 2025. The Canberra-born forward was assigned to the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G-League but was waived on December 9, 2025 after suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Status: Injured & Unsigned

Dante Exum: was ruled out of the 2025-26 season with in October because of complications with his knee. He was traded as part of deal that sent Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards on February 5, 2026 and just four days later was waived by the Wizards. Exum is now a free agent and now 30 with a career riddled by injury his NBA career is uncertain.
Status: Injured & Unsigned

Duop Reath re-signed with the Portland Trail Blazers and, again, was given limited minutes off the bench. Reath, 29, had foot surgery on January 30, 2026 but just days later was traded to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a deal that sent guard Vit Krejci to the Blazers for Reath and two future second-round picks. Reath was then waived by the Hawks.
Status: Injured & Unsigned

Dyson Daniels: started the season on the wing but head Atlanta head coach moved the 22-year-old guard from Bendigo into the point guard spot after Trae Young sprained his ACL early in the season. Daniels is now the primary point guard after Young was traded to the Washington Wizards in January 2025. He signed a four-year USD $100M rookie contract extension after winning the NBA's Most Improved Player Award in the 2024-25 season.
Status: Active

Jock Landale was having a breakout season at the Memphis Grizzlies but was traded as part of a deal that sent he and Jaren Jackson Jr to the Utah Jazz. The Jazz then sent Landale to the Hawks for cash considerations. He drove five hours overnight and turned in the biggest game of his career later that night, dropping 26 points, going 10-from-14 from the field and 5-from-8 from the three-point line, along with 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocks against ... the Utah Jazz.

Joe Ingles resigned with the Minnesota Timberwolves as a veteran leader for Western Conference contender. The 38-year-old Adelaide-born Olympian is Australia’s longest-serving NBA player. He gets minutes off the bench sporadically but is more often than not a DNP-coach's decision in 2025-26.
Status: Active

Johnny Furphy was having a breakout season for the injury riddled Indiana Pacers. Furphy was starting for the Pacers but tore his ACL after landing awkwardly after a dunk against Toronto on February 9, 2026. The 6’9” 21-year-old lit up the 2025 Summer League with possibly the greatest ever dunk by an Australian and his growth continued to be meteoric before the crushing knee injury.
Status: Torn ACL and is out for the season.

Josh Giddey is having an All-Star calibre season for the Chicago Bulls but was snubbed by Eastern Conference coaches after suffering a hamstring tear against the Timberwolves on December 30, 2025. The 23-year-old point guard's numbers are elite, including seven triple doubles, but January was tough, missing 12 games and has been in and out of the line-up with soreness and load management since his return. He signed a four-year USD $100M contract extension in September after a stalemate that stretch across the off-season.

Josh Green started the season on the sideline but since his return has been a constant in the Charlotte Hornets rotation off the bench. The 24-year-old doesn't stuff the stat sheet but is a two-way wing capable of guarding multiple positions.
Status: Active

Kyrie Irving is still recovering from a torn ACL. The Melbourne-born 33-year-old guard remains a marquee star for the Dallas Mavericks. A seven-time All-Star and NBA champion, Irving is an elite shot-maker and the Mavs are excited to pair him with No1 Draft Pick Cooper Flagg. There is no timetable for his return.

Lachlan Olbrich has been a true two-way player in 2025-26. The 22-year-old Olbrich, a 6’10” power forward has split time with the Windy City Bulls in the G League but has earned several call-ups to the Chicago Bulls, earning minutes alongside Giddey.

Status: Waived & Unsigned

Matisse Thybulle has played only a handful of games in two seasons for the Portland Trail Blazers. Thybulle, 28, missed most of 2024-25 because of injury and again in 2025-26 remains. He's a two-time All-Defensive Team member and when healthy is a core part of the Blazers rotation.
Status: Inactive

Rocco Zikarsky: has spent his 19th year in the G League with the Iowa Wolves. The 7’3” centre's development arc has been outstanding and it's only a matter of time before the Wolves turn his two-way deal into a NBA contract.
Status: Active in G League

Tyrese Proctor: was taken with the 49th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old Duke alumni earned himself a spot in the Cleveland Cavaliers rotation as a back-up point guard but as for a vast majority of rookies, is a DNP-coach's decision from time to time.
