Australians in the NBA in 2025-26
- Alex Toohey
21-year-old Alex Toohey has signed a two-way NBA & G-League contract with the Golden State Warriors. It's unlikely the Canberra-born forward be part of the Warriors roster given the depth of the seven-time NBA champions, four coming since 2015. Toohey will spend time with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G-League as he continues to develop his game. - Dante Exum
29-year-old Dante Exum returned to the NBA in 2023 after two seasons in Europe and is now a dependable rotation guard for the Dallas Mavericks when healthy. The Melbourne-born playmaker gives Dallas back-court versatility alongside Kyrie Irving, when he returns from injury. Exum is valued for his defense, size and slashing ability. The luckless Exum is again out to start the season with knee soreness. - Duop Reath
The 28-year-old South Sudan–born centre re-signed with the Portland Trail Blazers after a breakout campaign. Reath’s floor-spreading and rim protection made him a bright spot in Portland’s rebuild, and he remains a key part of their young core. - Dyson Daniels
A 22-year-old guard from Bendigo, Daniels starts his second season with the Atlanta Hawks after being traded from New Orleans. Renowned for his elite on-ball defense and feel, he’s expected to complement Trae Young in the back-court while adding playmaking depth. He has just signed a four-year USD $100M rookie contract extension after winning the NBA's Most Improved Player Award in the 2024-25 season. Every one of Dyson Daniels' games this season with Hawks is listed here. - Jock Landale
29-year-old Landale is a rotation big for the Memphis Grizzlies, bringing energy and toughness inside. The former St Mary’s star and Boomers Olympian continues to carve out a career as a physical screen-setter and rebounder in the NBA. He's expected to play a bigger role for the Grizzlies with Memphis down a couple of bigs to start the season. - Joe Ingles
The veteran forward, 38, joined the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, where his shooting and leadership steady a contending team. The Adelaide-born sharpshooter and 2021 Olympian is one of Australia’s longest-serving NBA players. He'll play a leading role in the Wolves locker room as they try to make it back to the Western Conference Finals in 2026. - Johnny Furphy
21-year-old Furphy was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in 2024 after a strong freshman season at Kansas. The 6’9” wing is viewed as a developmental prospect known for athleticism, perimeter shooting and transition play. He lit up the 2025 Summer League with possibly the greatest ever dunk by an Australian and his growth continues to be meteoric. Expect more minutes for Furphy this season. - Josh Giddey
Now 23, Giddey is the starting point guard for the Chicago Bulls after a trade from Oklahoma City. A nightly triple-double threat, he’s central to Chicago’s rebuild and one of Australia’s brightest young NBA stars. He signed a four-year USD $100M contract extension in September after a stalemate that stretch across the off-season. Every one of Giddey's games with the Bulls this season is listed here. - Josh Green
24-year-old Green continues with the Charlotte Hornets after a trade from Dallas. Known for defense and athletic finishing, he’s establishing himself as a two-way wing capable of guarding multiple positions. Green is injured to start the season and a timetable for his return is unknown. - Kyrie Irving
Born in Melbourne, the 33-year-old guard remains a marquee star for the Dallas Mavericks. A seven-time All-Star and NBA champion, Irving provides elite shot-making and veteran leadership beside Anthony Davis and No1 Draft Pick Cooper Flagg. Irving is still recovering from an ACL injury and is expected back in 2026. - Lachlan Olbrich
21-year-old Olbrich, a 6’10” power forward signed with the Chicago Bulls after impressing in the G League Elite Camp. He’ll split time between Chicago and its affiliate as he develops strength and shooting touch. It's unlikely Olbrich will earn significant playing time in the NBA this season but the Bulls are investing in him long term. - Luke Travers
The 23-year-old wing from Perth joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as a two-way player last season, pairing athleticism and defensive energy with improving perimeter range. A former NBL Rookie of the Year, Travers is carving out minutes as a high-effort role player. He had a rock-solid preseason and could earn minutes on the Cavs roster this season. - Matisse Thybulle
The defensive specialist, 28, remains with the Portland Trail Blazers. A two-time All-Defensive Team member, Thybulle is counted on to guard elite scorers while refining his corner-three consistency. He missed a large part of last season through injury and if he stays healthy will be a core part of the Blazers rotation. - Rocco Zikarsky
At just 19 years old, the 7’3” centre begins his NBA journey with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former Brisbane Bullets and NBL Next Stars bigman will develop behind Rudy Gobert while learning the physical demands of the league. - Tyrese Proctor
21-year-old Sydney-born guard Tyrese Proctor joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 49th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. A skilled playmaker with a smooth jumper from his Duke career, he’s seen as a long-term back-court investment. Whether Proctor can break into the Cavs rotation this season remains to be seen.
