Ben Simmons, Patty Mills still unsigned as Aussies solidify NBA rosters spots for 2025-26 season

Ben Simmons and Patty Mills are yet to sign with NBA teams for the 2025-26 season while Australian Boomers star Dyson Daniels signed a USD $100M extension with the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 (AEDT)

Sixteen Australian men's basketballers, including four 2025 draftees, have secured with contracts ahead of the start of the season on October 22, 2025.

Australian Josh Giddey's stalemate with the Chicago Bulls was finally over when signing a four-year USD $100M deal to stay in the Windy City last month.

The deal is worth AUD $152.5M, about $38M per season.

Both Simmons, 29, and Mills, 36, remain free agents. Simmons reportedly received a one-year minimum contract offer from the New York Knicks, which he has rejected, reported Marc Stein.

Sydney-born Akoldah Gak averaged 4.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 16.8 minutes per game across during the 2025 Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, which earned him a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards.

Australian wing Dante Exum officially re-signed with the Mavs on September 2, 2025 after they created a roster spot by waiving O-Max Prosper.

Australian centre Duop Reath remains at the Portland Trail Blazers with his $2.2M USD salary fully guaranteed by the Rip City franchise.

Reath, 29, has averaged 7.1 points and three boards in 15 minutes in two seasons at Portland.

Australian Jock Landale signed with the Memphis Grizzlies. Landale, 29, had two years remaining on his Rockets contract: 2025-26 worth $8M; and $8M team option in 2026-27 but was waived before signing with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Australian Lachlan Olbrich signed a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls. Olbrich, selected with the 55th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, signed his first NBA contract on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Matisse Thybulle opted into his $11.5M contract at the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

What is an Exhibit 10 deal

Exhibit 10 was introduced as part of the the NBA's 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Exhibit 10 contracts are one-year deals worth the minimum salary. These contracts come without compensation protection but can include an optional bonus worth as little as $5K and – in 2025-26 – as much as $85,300 (USD).
