Atlanta dominated Chicago despite the Aussie forward finding her shooting touch.

  • Bec Allen had five points as the Chicago Sky were beaten by the Atlanta Dream 86-65
  • Allen went 2-from-3 from the field and 1-from-1 from the three-point line
  • Allisha Gray had 25 points to lead the way for the Dream

Australian forward Bec Allen had an efficient night but it wasn't enough as the Chicago Sky lost to the Atlanta Dream 86-65 at Wintrust Arena.

Allen went 2-from-3 from the field, as well as 1-from-1 from the three-point line, for five points in 12 minutes in the contest. However, a 32-18 third quarter proved too much for Chicago in the 21-point defeat.

The first quarter started with Chicago taking an early lead, with the Sky hitting back-to-back three-pointers from Rachel Banham to build an 18-15 advantage by the end of the period. The Sky maintained control throughout most of the second quarter, going into halftime with a 34-28 lead.

The game's momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter as Atlanta erupted offensively. Te-Hina Paopao and Allisha Gray led the Dream's charge, combining for four three-pointers in the period. Atlanta outscored Chicago 32-18 in the third quarter, turning a six-point deficit into an eight-point lead heading into the final frame.

The Dream continued their dominance in the fourth quarter, with Jordin Canada's layup at the 5:47 mark extending Atlanta's lead to 74-63. The pivotal sequence came with 6:14 remaining when Te-Hina Paopao knocked down a clutch three-pointer to give Atlanta a 72-63 advantage, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Atlanta's offensive efficiency was the difference-maker, as they shot an impressive 45 per cent from the field (28-from-62) compared to Chicago's 43 per cent (28-from-65). The Dream were exceptional from three-point range, connecting on 42 per cent (9-from-21) of their attempts, while the Sky managed just 30 per cent (4-from-13).

The Dream were also dominant at the free-throw line, going 21-for-25 (84 per cent) compared to Chicago's 5-for-8 (62 per cent). This 16-point advantage from the charity stripe proved crucial in securing the win.

Allisha Gray was dominant for the Dream with 25 points, while Rachel Banham led the way for the Sky with 18 points.

With this victory, Atlanta improved to 18-11, solidifying their position in the top four the WNBA standings. Chicago dropped to 8-21, continuing their challenging season as they remain near the bottom of the standings.
