There is no question Australian Josh Giddey is playing at NBA All-Star level because he's playing at an all-time historical level to start the 2025-26 season.
Giddey, 23, has led the Chicago Bulls to a 6-1 start including back-to-back triple doubles, the first Bull since Michael Jordan 36 years ago to do it.
Only five players in history have averaged his numbers over an extended number of games. Giddey has a way to go for it not to be considered a "hot start" but he's already in the most elite company in the history of the game:
Only five players in NBA history have averaged 23+ PTS, 10+ REB, and 9+ AST over a meaningful period:
- Oscar Robertson
- Magic Johnson
- Luka Doncic
- Russell Westbrook
- Nikola Jokić
Josh Giddey 2025-26 Averages
PTS: 23.1 │ RPG: 10.0 │ APG: 9.1 │ STL: 0.9 │ BLK: 0.3
Through seven games Giddey ranks equal 6th–7th against 2025 All-Stars (see below), trailing only the MVP candidates (Doncic, Jokic and SGA) but statistically surpassing Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, and Donovan Mitchell in all-around impact efficiency.
If he maintains just 80% of this pace by the All-Star break, he’s not just an All-Star — but he’s in the early-season All-NBA conversation.
The Melbourne-born 6'8" point guard signed a USD $100M four-year extension with the Bulls just weeks before the start of the season. It drew criticism from some fans who thought the Bulls had paid overs but it is shaping to be one of the most under-market valued contracts this Millennium.
Giddey now has 20 triple doubles in 287 career games for Oklahoma City Thunder and the Bulls. He is the youngest player in history to record a triple-double. He was 19 years and 84-days-old against the Mavericks on January 2, 2022. Former NBL Next Stars guard LaMelo Ball is the second youngest at 19 and 140 days.
Only Markelle Fultz and Luka Doncic are the only other players who have delivered NBA triple doubles as 19-year-olds.

Former Chicago Bulls forward Stacy King said on his podcast: “He’s the real deal — I mean, he is the real deal. He’s got a chance to be an All-Star, a multiple-time All-Star. He’s got a chance to be arguably the best point guard in the league.
"You know, for what he does — I mean, the triple-doubles, his defense has gotten better. That’s been one of the knocks. The three-point shooting, when he came in, was one of the knocks — he’s not a good three-point shooter, he can’t guard anybody. Well, he’s doing all those things now.
"He’s shooting close to 45 percent from the three-point line, he’s getting out guarding people, he’s rebounding the basketball like a power forward — which takes pressure off of Vooch and all these other guys.
When your point guard is going in there getting nine, ten boards a night, and he has a great feel for the game — he knows. He’s starting to get it, Mark, where he sees his team struggling a little bit, and it’s like, ‘Okay, I gotta get a basket for us.’”
