Australia delivered a commanding 88–66 victory against Serbia at the BDC Main Venue in Istanbul, leaning on an efficient frontcourt showing from Yahya Basaran and John Aryang to put the result beyond doubt. The 22-point margin underscored an outstanding shooting night inside the arc and a dominant rebounding effort from the Australians.
Basaran leads the charge
Yahya Basaran was the headline act, finishing with 15 points on a blistering 7-from-9 from the field, all from inside the arc. He added seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks across 21 minutes, posting a team-high efficiency rating of 20 in a stellar all-round display.
His finishing around the basket set the tone for Australia's inside-out approach, which produced 31-from-54 (57.4%) from two-point range.
Aryang dominates the glass
John Aryang matched Basaran's impact with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, including four offensive boards. He shot 6-from-10 from the field and chipped in two blocks, anchoring the interior on both ends.
Aryang's work on the glass was central to Australia's 50–rebound performance, with 15 of those coming on the offensive end to fuel second-chance opportunities.
Paul orchestrates the offence
Luke Paul ran the show with a masterful floor game, delivering 11 points, eight assists and five rebounds while going a perfect 7-from-7 at the charity stripe. He absorbed contact throughout, earning trips to the line at key stages and finishing with a +28 plus-minus — the best mark on the floor.
Andrew Watene complemented Paul in the backcourt, posting 12 points and seven assists on 3-from-7 shooting, including 2-from-5 from deep.
Browne adds two-way punch
Antonio Browne contributed across the board with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block, shooting an efficient 4-from-7 from the field. His ability to score inside (4-from-6 on twos) and create for others added another dimension to the Australian attack.
Josh McCann was equally efficient off the bench, knocking down all four of his two-point attempts on his way to eight points.
Shooting splits tell the story
Australia shot a solid 49.3% from the field overall, anchored by their 57.4% mark on two-pointers. The three-point line was a different story, with the team going just 3-from-15 (20%) — a poor return from outside that was more than offset by their interior dominance and 17-from-20 (85%) night at the foul line.
Defensively, Australia racked up 11 steals and 10 blocks, disrupting Serbia's offence throughout. The one blemish came in ball security, with 22 turnovers indicating a night where Australia struggled to control the ball — though the deficit never threatened the result.
