SuperCoach NBL: Who to Buy, Hold, Sell & Captain in Round 3

Sssshhhhh, don’t tell anyone, but BUY Arnas Velicka ($277,000).

The Lithuanian point guard has flown under the radar in Brisbane’s first two NBL27 games and is at a bargain import-entry price. Ok, that’s sarcasm; we’ve written as many articles about him as he’s had assists, and NBL commentators talk about him even when he’s not playing in the game they are commentating on.

Before Round 2, 13.4% of SuperCoaches owned him, and he’s been the Most Traded-In Player this week; more than 1,400 SuperCoaches have already pulled the trigger on the Bullets star. He’s shaping to be owned by more than 20% when Round 3 tips off on Wednesday.

Eight of the 10 NBL clubs play twice in SuperCoach NBL Round 3, which turns the usual question on its head: the job in Round 3 is not finding a double-header, it is making sure you are not carrying too many players from the only two clubs that play once, unless you have planned meticulously for Round 3, or just got lucky – the Perth Wildcats at home to South East Melbourne Phoenix and the Sydney Kings at home to the Brisbane Bullets.

Lockout starts at 5.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, when the New Zealand Breakers host the Cairns Taipans at Spark Arena, and the round does not finish until the Breakers visit the Adelaide 36ers at 5pm (AEDT) on Sunday, October 4, the day daylight saving starts.

The other thing driving the round is the price clock. Prices have moved for exactly the 51 players who have played three games and for nobody on two, so anyone who has only played twice is still sitting on his launch price with a third game to come in Round 3.

That is why the lead call of Round 3 is Arnas Velicka ($277,000): the highest average in the game, a Brisbane double, and a price that hasn't moved since launch.

Before the price moves: two games played, still on launch price, doubling

• Velicka: 55.0 a game across two games, the highest average in SuperCoach NBL, and the best value of any Round 3 doubler at 19.9 points per $100,000. Brisbane play at Sydney on Wednesday night and host the Tasmania JackJumpers on Saturday. Buy. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 14.5 a game, 22.2 per cent owned, and the most-traded-in player of the round, with 1,410 trades in.
• Max Mackinnon ($200,000): 36.0 a game and 18.0 points per $100,000, the second-best value of the doublers, after 31 points and 12 rebounds against Illawarra on the way there. He is eligible as a guard and a forward, which matters when we get to the captaincy. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 1.0 a game, a projected rise of $42,900 and 11.4 per cent owned.
• Nate Hinton ($277,000): 38.5 a game, and like Mackinnon, he carries guard and forward eligibility. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 18.5 a game, a projected rise of $22,900 and 3.7 per cent owned.
• Will Magnay ($269,300): 36.0 a game and the only centre on this list, in the thinnest position in the game. Tasmania host Melbourne United on Thursday and visit Brisbane on Saturday. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 19.5 a game, a projected rise of $24,800 and 4.7 per cent owned.
• Cole Anthony ($300,000): 37.0 a game, with Melbourne at Tasmania on Thursday and at home to Cairns on Saturday. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 23.0 a game, a projected rise of $15,500 and 22.1 per cent owned.
• Taran Armstrong ($304,700) is on 35.5 a game and his Tasmanian teammate David Johnson ($232,900) on 32.5, both riding the JackJumpers' double. SuperCoach's numbers: breakevens of 23.0 and 21.0 a game, with Armstrong 3.2 per cent owned and Johnson 4.9.

• Dash Daniels ($115,000): 28.0 a game across three games and already up $44,200, the biggest price rise in the game. South East Melbourne visit Perth on Friday and host Illawarra on Sunday. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 13.0 a game, a projected rise of a further $13,200, and 51.5 per cent owned, the most owned player in SuperCoach NBL.
• Nick Rakocevic ($188,400): 33.7 a game and up $40,600, the second-biggest rise, with Adelaide doubling and his forward-centre eligibility giving you two places to start him. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 4.5 a game, a projected rise of $51,200 and 38.0 per cent owned.
• Parker Jackson-Cartwright ($405,200): 50.3 a game, second only to Velicka, and New Zealand have five doubles to Round 10, starting with Cairns at home on Wednesday and Adelaide away on Sunday. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 36.5 a game and 26.6 per cent owned.
• Ben Gold ($69,000) is on 12.0 a game, Shaun Bruce ($76,500) on 14.0, Tanner Krebs ($150,300) on 20.3 and Akech Aliir ($125,300) on 14.3, all four play twice in Round 3, and Bruce, Krebs and Aliir have already risen in price. SuperCoach's numbers: all four are scoring above their breakevens, and Bruce has been traded out 261 times anyway.

Hold on fixture

• Bryce Cotton ($473,900): Duh!. 45.3 a game, and his price has moved $100 in three games, which is as flat as a premium gets. Adelaide visit Illawarra on Friday and host New Zealand on Sunday, but they have only three doubles to Round 10. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 43.5 a game, a projected change of minus $1,500 and 39.1 per cent owned.
• Zylan Cheatham ($339,500): Adelaide's forward is on 31.3 a game, down $3,000, and rides the same double. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 32.5 a game and 16.7 per cent owned.

Single in Round 3, but no reason to panic

• Anthony Dell'Orso ($100,000): 24.3 a game and up $38,300, the third-biggest rise in the game. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of minus 35 and a projected rise of $42,700 even on one game, with 21.8 per cent owned.
• Elijah Pepper ($202,700): 31.0 a game and up $30,100 since he banked the winner over Bryce Cotton's Adelaide. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of minus 5.
• Kendric Davis ($436,000): 46.0 a game, the third-highest average in the game, on one game at home to Brisbane. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 33.0.

Perth play once

• Kristian Doolittle ($317,500): 33.3 a game, but Perth have one game in Round 3 and their first double of the season is not until Round 7. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 39.0 on one game, and the most traded-out player of the round at 614.
• Jo Lual-Acuil Jr ($318,100): 26.0 a game, down $11,600, and a doubt after he left Perth's win over New Zealand on September 26 after 7 minutes and 38 seconds with an apparent calf injury. SuperCoach's numbers: a breakeven of 46.0.

Out, and still owned

If one of these is in your starting five and does not play, the auto-emergency promotes your lowest-scoring bench player who did play, not your best, so a known out is worth a trade. Our NBL Injury Report has the detail on every one.

• Flynn Cameron ($241,700): ankle. Fox Sports' Jai (@NBLPleb) reported on September 27 that he is in a moon boot and expected to miss up to six weeks, which is an upper bound rather than a return date.
• Mason Peatling ($147,700): foot, awaiting a scan. Tatum said on September 28: "Mason will get a scan tomorrow, and hopefully his foot isn't broken."
• Todd Blanchfield ($123,800): broken finger. Tatum said the same day: "As of right now, I know Todd Blanchfield's finger is broken. The timeframe is to be determined."
• Preston Le Gassick ($69,000): ankle, with no return date, and SuperCoach did not flag him as injured as at September 28, so the game will not warn you.
• Darius Days ($277,000): still listed at Illawarra in SuperCoach, but the Hawks parted ways with him after one game.

• Velicka, 55.0: at Sydney on Wednesday at 7.30pm (AEST), then home to Tasmania on Saturday at 5.30pm (AEST).
• Jackson-Cartwright, 50.3: home to Cairns in the first game of the round at 5.30pm (AEST) on Wednesday, then at Adelaide at 5pm (AEDT) on Sunday.
