What Happened

The Dream established control early with a dominant first quarter, outscoring the Fever 31-23 behind Brittney Griner's efficient interior play. Indiana responded in the second period, holding Atlanta to just 13 points while adding 19 of their own to narrow the deficit to 44-42 at halftime.
Atlanta regained momentum after the break, exploding for 32 points in the third quarter as Rhyne Howard found her shooting touch. The Dream built their lead to as many as 13 points before Indiana began chipping away. The Fever mounted a late comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring Atlanta 25-15, but couldn't overcome the deficit.
Brionna Jones was a force inside for Atlanta, contributing 19 points and 13 rebounds, including six offensive boards that gave the Dream crucial second-chance opportunities. Her physical presence in the paint helped Atlanta establish a 37-32 rebounding advantage that proved critical in the one-point victory.
The Dream's defense was disruptive, recording seven steals and five blocks while forcing 14 Indiana turnovers. Howard led the defensive effort with three steals, helping Atlanta convert defense into offense throughout the contest.
Despite shooting just 42.6 percent from the field, the Dream's ability to get to the free-throw line (25-of-32) provided the scoring cushion needed to withstand Indiana's late surge.
For the Fever, Clark demonstrated her all-around brilliance with 27 points and 11 assists, while Aliyah Boston added an efficient 24 points on 9-from-13 shooting along with 10 rebounds. However, Indiana's starting forwards struggled, with DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard combining for just six points on 3-from-10 shooting, creating an offensive imbalance that ultimately proved costly.
