Aussie big man Jock Landale had ended a whirlwind trade deadline with a "debut for the ages" for the Atlanta Hawks after tying his career-high in a win over the team he was initially traded to.
Landale had 26 points, going 10-from-14 from the field and 5-from-8 from the three-point line, along with 11 rebounds, five assists and four blocks in his first NBA game with fellow Australian Boomer Dyson Daniels as a teammate as the Hawks recorded a 121-119 victory over the Utah Jazz at State Farm Arena.
The 30-year-old, who is in the middle of a career year, was traded twice in a day after being dealt from the Memphis to Utah before being told to get off a plane following another trade, this time to the Hawks.
Landale spoke about the crazy 24 hours in the post-game interview after Atlanta's victory.
"It was good. I was actually sitting on a plane getting ready to go to Utah and I get the call saying get off the damn plane," he said.
"So, you know, the option was to fly in this morning or drive last night.I thought I'd come here, get a good night's sleep, get up, you know, see the boys work out this morning and just kind of get acclimatised.
"I'm just glad to be here, man. Glad to be here playing some basketball."
Landale looked even more reinvigorated than he has the rest of the season in a new environment with the Hawks, who are currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a 26-27 record, scoring 17 points in the first half.
His performance already drew praise from his new team with the Hawks posting "debut for the ages" on Instagram following the career-best outing.
Daniels also had 11 points, six rebounds and six assists in the game for the Hawks.
