Australia's June and July 2026 delivered more than any calendar could have promised. Two junior teams came home with World Cup bronze. The Boomers went through their qualifying window without losing. The Opals beat China twice in Melbourne on the way to Berlin, and four Australian 3x3 teams came back from Glasgow with a medal each.

This is every result, with the reports that carried them.

FIBA Under-17 Men's World Cup, Türkiye

Australia won bronze. The Crocs opened by beating Serbia, and Luke Paul and John Aryang set the tone in that first win. Paul then gave the statisticians sore fingers in a five-point win over Côte d'Ivoire, and Antonio Browne's performance against Venezuela sent Australia into the round of 16.

Slovenia went down next, with Paul and Browne carrying Australia into a quarter-final against Canada. Coach Greg Vanderjagt used the build-up to hand the credit to his assistants. Then Paul and Yahya Basaran put Canada to the sword.

The United States ended the run in the semi-final and sent the Crocs to the bronze-medal game. Australia won it. FIBA Under-17 Women's World Cup, Czechia

Australia won bronze here too. The Sapphires started with a win over Latvia in which two players broke a steals record in the opener. The world No.1 United States then escaped a late Australian run in Brno, before Jemyma Manyok's double-double carried Australia into the knockout rounds.

Germany were buried early by a 24-0 Australian blitz, a result coach Tom Garlepp had called for going into the business end. Japan fell 70-64 with Madison Ryan scoring 21 to reach the semi-finals.

Spain won the semi 58-51 and ended the title bid after a brave comeback. Australia then beat Canada 64-57 for bronze, sealed by Olivia Olechnowicz's dagger three. Garlepp later explained how his team turned the loss into another rose gold. Before any of it, we profiled the 17-year-old veteran anchoring the side.

Boomers qualifying window, Perth

Australia won both games and finished the group unbeaten at 6-0. Pepper and Henshall were out of the squad, which opened the door for a younger group at RAC Arena.

Guam were beaten 124-52, and Tyrese Proctor's moment arrived with 22 points. Three days later the Philippines went down 92-49, with Bryce Cotton scoring 21 in just 20 minutes.

Opals International Series v China, John Cain Arena

Australia won both games. In game one on July 7, 2026, Steph Reid was the Opals' jewel in a 76-74 win, holding her nerve at the free-throw line against a China side led by Zhang Ziyu's 28 points and 11 rebounds.

Game two was harder. Australia fell 18 points behind and still won 84-82, completing the sweep with a second-half rally.

The series produced two debutants and one absence. Bonnie Deas earned her call-up and described it as surreal, Sitaya Fagan earned a national team debut, and Cayla George withdrew as she announced a sister for Pearl.

Australian Under-16 National Championships, Bendigo

Victoria Metro won the boys championship, with Adio scoring 30 points in a 35th title. The girls final went to Victoria Country, anchored by Hill.

NBA 2K26 Summer League, Las Vegas

Golden State won the title, and Australia's Lachlan Olbrich was part of it, with a case to make for a new contract. Our full tracker covers how every Australian performed, across both Las Vegas and the California Classic that preceded it.

Individually: Rocco Zikarsky added a three-ball in five games for Minnesota, Flynn Cameron pushed for an NBA contract at Portland, William Hickey started at point guard for the Lakers, and Max Mackinnon went in chasing a spot. We set the table beforehand with the Australians who already had deals.

Commonwealth Games 3x3, Glasgow

Four Australian teams, four medals: gold, gold, silver and bronze. Every result is here, and we followed it with an assessment of how every Australian player delivered. Before the tournament, the Gangurrus were preparing to turn silver into gold. They did.

WNBA regular season

The month that followed brought the biggest story of the Australian season: Rebecca Allen called time on a remarkable career. Earlier, the Dallas Wings backed Alanna Smith through a slow start.

NBL1 Men and Women

The NBL1 season ran through both months and into its finals. All five conference grand finals are now decided: Bankstown took the East title, Jeremy Combs had the look of a champion in the South, Warwick won the West, the Rollers swept the North, and Sturt broke their hoodoo in the Central.

June 2026

FIBA 3x3 World Cup, Warsaw

Australia's women went within one possession of the title. A brutal game-winner denied them, and we went back over how the Cinderella run ended at the buzzer. The men's Gangurrus went out in the group stage after four straight losses.

NBA Rising Stars Invitational, Singapore

Berwick College went to OCBC Arena as defending champions and Kyungbock ended the defence. Ahead of it we previewed Berwick taking on Asia's best and named both Australian high school teams. They earned the trip in May, when Rowville and Berwick punched their tickets.

WNBA Commissioner's Cup

Australians featured through the group stage. Stephanie Talbot led the Aussie charge, her Las Vegas side moved into the driver's seat, and Georgia Amoore caught Sandy Brondello's eye as the Mystics beat Toronto.

IWBF Women's Repechage, Madrid

The Gliders named a full-strength squad for a final push at World Championship qualification.
